Flamengo is listed in a report presented this Friday (5) by STJD rapporteur Mauro Marcelo de Lima e Silva as one of the 25 victims, including clubs, players and referees, of unfounded complaints by the owner of SAF Botafogo, John Textor.
The auditor voted to punish John Textor with six years of suspension and a fine of R$ 2 million, and also announced that he had forwarded evidence to the Court so that a criminal complaint could be filed against the owner of Botafogo.

The auditor considered that Textor violated, on several occasions, the following articles of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice:
Art. 221. Give rise, due to gross error or personal feeling, to the initiation of an investigation or process in the Sports Court.
Art. 243- A. Acting, in a manner contrary to sporting ethics, with the aim of influencing the result of a match, race or equivalent.
Art. 243- F. Offending someone in their honor, due to a fact directly related to sport.
Flamengo is listed as a victim due to complaints made by Textor against the decisions of referee Raphael Claus in the second round match of the Brazilian Championship of the year past, won 2-1 by Flamengo at Engenhão.
“The report (presented by Textor) contains the name of the main referee Mr. Raphael Claus and his entire team, stating that CR Flamengo would have benefited with two goals in an offside position, thus interfering with the result of the match”, says the STJD report.
The report records Flamengo's response to Textor's complaints:
“Flamengo, through its lawyers, responded to the accusations of the owner of Botafogo, Mr. Textor, about the alleged manipulation of results and arbitration benefits in a 2023 match. The club highlighted that the report used as The evidence was unilateral and produced by the accuser himself. VAR and expert analysis confirmed the legality of the questioned goals. Flamengo reaffirmed the impartiality of the referees, hired by the CBF, and concluded that the accusations are unfounded, resulting from Botafogo's dissatisfaction with the defeat.”
Specifically regarding the complaint involving Flamengo's match, the STJD auditor voted for Textor's suspension for 45 days and a fine of R$50,000, which contribute to the total value of the sentence proposed by Lima e Silva.
The report thus qualifies Ref-Eval, a tool used by the consultancy Good Game to support Textor's complaint about alleged refereeing errors (along with Match Fix, which would have pointed out manipulation of results by players in Palmeiras games):
“The REF-EVAL®, for On the other hand, it claims to be able to distinguish with high precision between correct and incorrect referee decisions. However, the classification of errors into High and Low IRD, and correct decisions into High and Low CRD, proves to be arbitrary and inconsistent. The promise to evaluate all arbitration decisions accurately does not hold up in the face of the detailed analyzes and criticism received. Both systems appear to be so-called miracle solutions that, in reality, are nothing more than technological fantasies. The trust placed in these methods by “Good Game” is, at best, an almost well-intentioned illusion and, at worst, an artifice in an attempt to deceive sporting entities”, he states.
In search of reinforcements for the team, the red-black board is closely monitoring the player, a starter for the São Paulo team, but should only act next year.
