This Thursday, September 19th, Flamengo takes to the field to face Peñarol, at 7pm (Brasília time), at the Maracanã Stadium, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores. Mais Querido seeks a good advantage in front of their fans to advance to the semi-finals of the continental competition.

Match HIGHLIGHTS AND TRANSMISSION

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN and Disney+ and fans can also listen on FLA TV, on YouTube. The referee designated for the clash is Venezuelan Jesus Valenzuela, with assistance from compatriots Jorge Urrego and Tulio Moreno. The match promises to be fierce, as both teams have a balanced record in South American competitions.



FLAMENGO IN THE SEASON AND MISSINGS

CRF is having a good campaign this season, despite coach Tite's work still dividing opinions among fans. With 45 points, Rubro-Negro occupies 4th place in the Brazilian Championship, eight points behind leader Botafogo. In the last match, the team drew 1-1 with Vasco, also at Maracanã.

In the round of 16 of the Libertadores, Flamengoeliminated Bolívar with an aggregate score 2 to 1. For this Thursday's clash, Tite will have to deal with important absences. Striker Luiz Araújo, injured, is out, joining the list of absences that already includes Cebolinha, Michael, Pedro and full-back Viña.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.



Following is the Red and Black lineup:Rossi, Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Pulgar, De la Cruz, Gerson and Arrascaeta; Plata and Bruno Henrique.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
