0After losing to Red Bull Bragantino in Curitiba, Grêmio begins to envision the duel against Flamengo at Maracanã, on the 13th, for the Brazilian Championship. For this match, Renato Gaúcho's team lost young midfielder Gustavo Nunes, one of the highlights of the Gaucho team this season. Gustavo received his third yellow card.
Before the card against the Bragança Paulista team at Couto Pereira, Gustavo Nunes had been warned in the victory against Athletico-PR by 2-0 and in the defeat by Bahia by 1 to 0. In 2024, the 18-year-old gave three assists and scored two goals. Grêmio is currently in twelfth place, with six points on the leaderboard.
Flamengo could come into this game against Grêmio at the top of the Brazilian Championship. For this to happen, Mengão must beat Vasco at Maracanã this Sunday (2). Furthermore, Bahia and Athletico-PR would need to stumble against Atlético-MG and Fortaleza, respectively. The matches will be at Mineirão and Castelão.
The last time they faced each other at Maracanã, the Flamengo beat Grêmio 1-0 with a penalty goal from Arrascaeta. The match was valid for the second leg of the 2023 Copa do Brasil semi-final. In the first leg, in Porto Alegre, Mengão had already won 2-0, with goals from Gabigol and Thiago Maia. Currently, the midfielder who won the victory plays for Internacional.
Rubro-negro started the season on the right foot in women's volleyball
|
0The first women's volleyball competition is Mengão's! This Friday (27), Flamengo won the National Cup of Pro-Vôlei Clubs. Against the current Superliga champion, Bernardinho's team played 3 sets to 0 at Minas, with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-17. The duel took place at Ginásio Wilson Mânica, in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul.
The tournament featured three clubs and serves as preparation for the 2024/25 Superliga. On Wednesday (25), Flamengo beat Maringá. On Thursday (26), Minas also beat the team from Paraná. Therefore, this Friday (27th) the big decision took place, which had a packed gym.
Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.
SuperligaThe dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.
In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

The event will be held in Central Park, New York

0FIFA will announce the venues for the 2025 Super Club World Cup this Saturday (28). The announcement will be made during the Global Citizen Festival. The event will be held in Central Park, New York. FIFA did not detail how many cities and stadiums will host the 2025 edition. This will be the first time that the tournament will feature 32 teams.
The Super World Cup will be held between June 15 and July 13, 2025 The competition already has 30 qualified teams, with three Brazilians among them: Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense. Brazil may have one more representative. This is because Atlético-MG and Botafogo are fighting for the last South American place in the competition — the Libertadores title gives them the place. Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.
The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.
In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

Player was hanging and received the third yellow card in the last game
|
0Adversary of Flamengo in the 28th round of the Brasileirão, next Sunday (29), Athletico-PR will not have midfielder Gabriel, who received his third yellow card in the draw against Criciúma, this Sunday (22), and will be suspended.
Gabriel was the only one of Athletico's nine suspended players to be punished and will be left out of the clash against Flamengo. He received a card from Anderson Daronco in the 28th minute of the second half, after committing a foul when pulling an opponent after being dribbled. With 23 fouls and four cards in the match, it can be said that the team from Paraná did well given the number of people hanging.
Coach Martín Varini will have to find a replacement for Gabriel, who took over the position after Fernandinho's injury. Against Criciúma, Felipinho entered the second half in his place, but Erick and Praxedes are also viable options for the role.
It is important to remember that Athletico-PR has a decisive duel against Racing (ARG) on Wednesday (26), for the return of the quarterfinals of the Recopa Sul-Americana. Despite the 1-0 victory in the first leg, the team is expected to use maximum strength for the match that will decide who advances to the semi-finals.
Athletic-PR FormationThe starting line-up against Flamengo at Maracanã, at 8pm, will depend on the players' physical condition. Varini must count on the return of Zapelli, who had pain in his ankle, and will have the return of Uruguayan striker Canobbio, who was suspended.
Flamengo with Alternative LineupAlthough the Flamengo states that it will not leave the Brasileirão aside, the current situation leads the club to prioritize the cups. After the defeat in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals, 12 players were left out of the trip to face Grêmio, resulting in a 3-2 defeat and leaving the team 11 points behind the lead.
Com Focusing on the comeback against Peñarol in Uruguay, on Thursday (26), and the sequence of important games, Tite may choose to spare players again against Athletico. After the confrontation with the team from Paraná, Flamengo receives Corinthians the following Wednesday, October 2nd, for the game first leg of the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil.
