According to information released by ESPN, the entity has turned its attention to Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, who is facing instability in the command of the Spanish team.
The change in focus was driven by uncertainty surrounding Ancelotti 's permanence in Spain. With the Copa del Rey final approaching — scheduled for Saturday (26), against Barcelona — a defeat could lead to his departure from the club. Internally, the CBF is already working on the possibility of taking advantage of this scenario to bring the Italian to lead the national team. The expectation is that a negative outcome for Real Madrid will pave the way for more concrete talks.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues closely follows the behind-the-scenes of European football and maintains strategic contacts to anticipate potential moves. According to sources close to the organization, he considers Ancelotti the ideal candidate to start a new cycle with the Brazilian National Team. The decision to hire an experienced European coach is justified by the search for a more pragmatic and winning profile, characteristics that Ancelotti has on his resume.

Gil built a remarkable relationship with Corinthians , a club he played for twice. Between 2013 and 2016, he was a key player in Tite's squad, crowning the period with the 2015 Brazilian Championship title . He returned to Corinthians in 2019 and, during his second stint, reached the impressive milestone of 400 appearances for the club.
Despite his solid history at Corinthians, Gil revealed a dream he never fulfilled: playing for Flamengo . " I did everything I wanted, the only thing missing was playing for Flamengo . Not everything is perfect. I'm grateful for the career I've built," he declared.
The final chapter of his career was at Santos, where he played in the 2024 Série B. The defender played an important role in the club's promotion to Série A , but lost his place in the squad and terminated his contract in August of the same year. Shortly thereafter, he decided to hang up his boots.

With 18 goals and 13 assists this season, he has already equaled his highest-scoring year since arriving in Rio de Janeiro and could achieve the best performance of his professional career. The midfielder will be one of coach Filipe Luís's main weapons in this Thursday's duel (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã , for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals.
