Brazil takes the field this Thursday night (12) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, to face Venezuela, at Arena Pantanal. The game marks the return of Ninho's creation Vinícius Júnior to Canarinho, and the expectation is that the star will increasingly assume the leading role in this new cycle.

Journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho spoke in his column on CBN radio about this moment of transition in the Brazilian National Team, and states that Neymar is little by little passing the "throne" to Vinícius Júnior. According to PVC, Brazil will benefit from a successful generational transition.

“It’s about making the transition the right way. The team always had crises when there were important ruptures. For example, when Zico stopped and Romário's generation didn't play with him. Or when Neymar played very little with Ronaldinho because he gave up playing at a high level, Adriano ditto and Kaká had an injury”, began PVC.

“It's much easier when you go from Pelé to Rivelino, from Rivelino to Zico, from Romário to Ronaldo. It was always much easier. It's not because of that, but it helped, in the transition from Romário to Ronaldo that Brazil played three World Cup finals in a row, and then never played again.”

According to Paulo Vinícius, the Brazilian team Today, it is going through the natural process of changing protagonists. At 31 years old, Neymar recently transferred to Al Hilal (SAU), and seems to no longer have the same physical vigor as he once did. While Vinícius Júnior is Real Madrid's best player, and little by little he will also take on the leading role with "Hopscotch".

“So it's great to have Neymar passing the throne little by little to Vinícius and to Rodrygo. But today Brazil's main player in international football is Vinícius Júnior. At this moment he is the one playing at the highest level, he is Real Madrid's best player. Now, the transition well done is great to see”, concluded PVC.

Flamengo entered the field on Thursday night. With a packed Maracanã, Tite's men played the first match of the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol (URU). The objective was to play a good game and take an advantage for the return game, next week. In this sense, the Rio team

Summary

Peñarol started well and Peñarol soon showed that they would play on the red and black error. Therefore, the Uruguayans opened the scoring after 12 minutes, with Cabrera, in a counterattack. Soon after, Flamengo responded with Plata's header hitting the post. But the red and black team had difficulty creating chances. In the final stretch of the first half, Flamengo grew and had great opportunities to draw. Bruno Henrique, alone, headed over goalkeeper Aguerre, who also made a great save from Arrascaeta's shot.

In the second half, Flamengo came back even better, but came up against the strong Uruguayan marking and the lack of creativity to reach the opponent's goal. Tite moved the flanks, which gave Flamengo more speed, however, it had little effect due to a terrible night from Arrascaeta and De la Cruz.

What now?

With the result, Flamengo will need to win by at least two goals to guarantee one of the places in the Libertadores semi-finals. The match takes place in Uruguay, next Thursday. However, Fla needs to turn the key, because there is a Brazilian Championship game to play on the weekend. Tite's men face Grêmio, away from home, next Sunday, at 6:30 pm;

Last Wednesday (18), representatives from Flamengo and Caixa Econômica Federal held another meeting to resolve the impasse surrounding the Gasologista land, acquired by the club in July. The meeting had the support of Rio de Janeiro City Hall and the Attorney General's Office (AGU), and a new meeting scheduled for next week, in Brasília, could seal the definitive agreement. The information was released by journalist Diogo Dantas, from the newspaper "O Globo".

Mengão's board of directors, represented by president Rodolfo Landim, vice-general Rodrigo Dunshee, CEO Reinaldo Belotti and vice-president of equity Marcos Bodin, was optimistic about the possibility of a solution soon. Caixa questions the amount paid by the club at the land auction, but everything indicates that an additional amount could resolve the legal conflict by next month.

INVOLVEMENT OF THE CITY OF RIO

The meeting was also attended by deputy Pedro Paulo and the club's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, who have acted as intermediaries between the club and the mayor from Rio, Eduardo Paes. In August, a meeting involving the bank's president, Carlos Vieira, president Lula and mayor Eduardo Paes had already signaled the path to an agreement.

IMPORTANCE OF THE AGREEMENT FOR FLAMENGO

Mais Querido's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, highlighted that the agreement is the ideal way to give peace of mind to the club. "For the club, a good agreement is always better than an eternal discussion about values. The land has already been expropriated. The agreement is ideal to eliminate any doubts and for Flamengo to have the necessary peace of mind to begin the work", said Cotta.

This Thursday (19), Flamengo hosts Peñarol (URU) at Maracanã, at 7pm (Brasília time), in a match valid for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores da América. In search of a good advantage for the second leg, coach Tite will have to deal with several important absences in the red and black squad.

Peñarol coach, Diego Aguirre, defined the starting lineup for the match decisive. With no important absences, the Uruguayan team takes to the field with: Aguerre; Léo Coelho, Javier Méndez, Guzmán Rodríguez; Pedro Milans, Eduardo Darías, Damián García, Javier Cabrera, Léo Fernández, Maximiliano Olivera; and Maximiliano Silvera.

Aguirre will have almost his entire squad at his disposal. The only player out of the match is Damian Suarez, who has not yet had his name regularized after his recent arrival at the Uruguayan club. However, Suarez's absence is not a concern, as the coach has a complete squad for the clash against Mengão. b>

On the other hand, Mais Querido has to deal with six confirmed absences. Cebolinha, Pedro, Luiz Araújo, Gabigol, Michael and Viña are out of the match, all due to injuries. These absences complicate the formation of coach Tite, who will have to adjust the team to seek a good result playing at home.

DECISIVE GAME AT MARACANÃ

This Thursday's clash is extremely important for the CRF. The Rio team needs a convincing victory to travel more calmly to Uruguay for the second leg, scheduled for September 26th.
