The president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, addressed the contract issue of striker Gabriel Barbosa during his participation in the Charla Podcast, on Monday (22). Landim stated that he expects Gabigol to perform again in line with the amount he is requesting for the renewal of his contract. The striker, who scored the winning goal against Criciúma on Saturday (20), revealed in an interview with the Premiere channel that "things were not fulfilled" in relation to the renewal of his contract.
Rodolfo Landim emphasized the importance of Gabigol in the history of Flamengo, but highlighted the difficulties of meeting the player's financial demands for a long-term contract.
“Gabriel is a player whose name is marked in Flamengo's history for everything he did. The problem is that he made it clear today that he is looking for a long-term contract, and Flamengo is not willing to offer the values he is putting on the table for a contract of this type. We are willing to take this contract and do another year, with a much higher salary than he receives today. I hope he accepts and returns to sporting performance compatible with the amount he is asking for”, said Landim in the interview.
