Léo Ortiz approved his improvised performance as a midfielder in Flamengo's 2-1 victory over Grêmio, this Thursday (13). Shirt 3 was self-critical about his performance and even recognized some mistakes in the first half, but said he was happy with the improvement throughout the game and classified his performance as positive.
“It was a good game. Within the scenario of not being used to doing the role and physically it is very different too. In the first half I told David that I was bothered by not only offensively not being able to participate as much in the game and making some mistakes. In the second half I managed to play a more solid game and at the level I'm looking for”, said Léo Ortiz in the mixed zone of Maracanã.
He understands that mistakes in the first 45 minutes are natural, as the position has different physical demands than defender. Changes that, added to the time he didn't play as a midfielder, meant the athlete needed time to get used to the rhythm.
“I think in the first half, I'm not saying I did bad, but I could have done better. But in context, a function that didn't start the game and I won't remember, probably at the base. Starting the game a long time ago. That's another thing. It's a different rhythm. But in the second half I was better, I was able to reach the area (laughs). I'm happy.”
As Flamengo did not announce Allan's expected return and Igor Jesus will probably be absent, Léo Ortiz can continue as midfielder in the next game. Mengão visits Athletico-PR on Sunday, at 4pm, for the 10th round of the Brasileirão.

Tite opted for the defender as a midfielder due to the team's needs in the face of seven absences, four of them in the midfield sector. Ortiz regretted the team's absences, but handles improvisations naturally and shows confidence that the squad will do the job during the Copa América.

Sesc Flamengo began training with the full squad for the 2025/26 season of the Women's Superliga this Monday (15). The last athletes to show up were Helena Wenk, Laís, Lorena, Tainara and Masa Kirov, who were competing in international tournaments for the Brazilian and Serbian national teams.
During their time with their national teams, several players achieved significant achievements. Helena, Laís, Lorena, and Tainara won silver in the Nations League and bronze at the World Cup with the Brazilian national team. Tainara also shone, winning bronze at the U-21 World Cup . Estudiantes announced this Monday (15) two confirmed absences for the match against Flamengo , valid for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. The match is scheduled for this Thursday, at Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro . The return game will be held seven days later, in Argentina.
The first player to be out is 33-year-old defender González Pírez , a River Plate youth product. The defender suffered a Grade 3 hamstring injury in his right thigh and is expected to be out for at least a month , ruling him out of both matches against the red-and-blacks.
Without further ado, coach Eduardo Domínguez confirmed that Santiago Núñez will replace González Pírez . The defender had already replaced his injured teammate in the match against River Plate and scored Estudiantes' only goal in the 2-1 defeat.
The club expects to maintain defensive consistency even without its regular starter . The Argentine coach has emphasized in previous interviews the importance of maintaining tactical discipline to balance the match against Flamengo at Maracanã.
