On November 4th, Boca Juniors (ARG) and Fluminense will play the Libertadores final. To prepare Maracanã, the venue for the decision, Conmebol planned to close the stadium 20 days in advance, that is, next Monday (16). However, Flamengo did not accept and demanded that the classic with Vasco, on October 22nd, be at the Sacred Temple.

Irritated with Flamengo and with no alternative, Conmebol had to accept Rubro Negro's decision, and the The stadium will be closed for just 12 days to prepare for the Copa Libertadores de América final. In the entity's view, the deadline is not enough to leave the pitch in ideal conditions for the game. The information was released by journalist Venê Casagrande.

Conmebol expected Flamengo to be more flexible. Rubro Negro argued that it would be greatly harmed if it accepted the imposition of football's highest entity. Due to the Libertadores final, Mais Querido will have to play two games outside of Rio de Janeiro: on October 29th, against Red Bull Bragantino, still in an undefined location, and against Santos, on November 1st, which will be in Brasília.

Due to the uncertain dates regarding the closure of Maracanã, the Flamengo x Vasco classic had advanced negotiations to take place in Brasília, at the Mané Garrincha Stadium. However, Rubro Negro's stance changed the situation, and the game will be at Templo Sagrado.

The match against Vasco will be Tite's first at Maracanã as Flamengo's new coach. The debut of the new Rubro Negro commander will be in the game against Cruzeiro, on October 19th, at Mineirão, valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.

On Thursday night (19), Flamengo hosted Peñarol at Maracanã for the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores da América and came out with an unfavorable result. In front of more than 64 thousand fans, the team led by Tite had several opportunities, but failed to score.

The Uruguayan team took advantage of one of the few chances and, with a goal from Cabrera, secured a 1-0 victory. Now, Mengão will need to reverse the deficit in the second leg, scheduled for next Thursday- fair (26), in Montevideo.

This Thursday's defeat puts the Rio team in a delicate situation. To guarantee qualification to the semi-finals, Mais Querido will need to win by two goals at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium. A simple victory will take the decision to penalties, while any other score guarantees Peñarol's place. The result was even more painful for the club, as Flamengo has not lost at Maracanã in Libertadores competitions since 2019, also to Peñarol.

DIRECT CONFRONTATION BETWEEN FLAMENGO AND PEÑAROL

The return game is full of expectations, mainly due to the historic rivalry between the two teams in the South American competition. The winner of this duel will face, in the semifinals, the winner of the clash between Botafogo and São Paulo. On the other side of the bracket, there are River Plate (Argentina), Colo-Colo (Chile), Fluminense and Atlético-MG, which makes the path to the final even more competitive.

FLAMENGO AND PEÑAROL RETURN TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Before the decisive match for the Libertadores, both teams have commitments for their national leagues. CRF travels to Porto Alegre to face Grêmio, next Sunday (22), at 6:30 pm, for the Brazilian Championship. Peñarol faces Cerro, also on Sunday, at 7pm, away from home, in the Clausura of the Uruguayan Championship.

Flamengo entered the field on Thursday night. With a packed Maracanã, Tite's men played the first match of the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol (URU). The objective was to play a good game and take an advantage for the return game, next week. In this sense, the Rio team ended up disappointing the more than 60 thousand paying guests at the stadium and lost 1-0, in one of the team's worst matches of the year.

Summary

Peñarol It started well and Peñarol soon showed that it would play on the red and black error. Therefore, the Uruguayans opened the scoring after 12 minutes, with Cabrera, in a counterattack. Soon after, Flamengo responded with Plata's header hitting the post. But the red and black team had difficulty creating chances. In the final stretch of the first half, Flamengo grew and had great opportunities to draw. Bruno Henrique, alone, headed over goalkeeper Aguerre, who also made a great save from Arrascaeta's shot.

In the second half, Flamengo came back even better, but came up against the strong Uruguayan marking and the lack of creativity to reach the opponent's goal. Tite moved the sides, which gave Flamengo more speed, however, it had little effect due to a terrible night from Arrascaeta and De la Cruz. As a result, the result did not change and now Flamengo needs to reverse the situation away from home next week.

What now?

With the result, Flamengo will need to win by at least two goals to guarantee one of the places in the Libertadores semi-finals. The match takes place in Uruguay, next Thursday. However, Fla needs to turn the key, because there is a Brazilian Championship game to play on the weekend. Tite's men will face Grêmio, away from home, next Sunday, at 6:30 pm;

Next season is promising. That's at least in terms of Dates. The calendar defined by Conmebol for 2025 has some points that demand the clubs' attention. Mainly those who usually qualify for continental tournaments. Who plays in the initial stages

For Brazilian clubs, who enter the second preliminary stage of the Libertadores , the competition starts on February 19th. Whoever is going to play in this knockout stage needs to be minimally organized so as not to fall midway.

Concentrated group stage

Whoever plays in the Libertadores will have an intense group stage. There will be six games in two months, between April and May. The competition will fill six of the nine possible midweeks in the period.

Long break in the Libertadores

On the other hand, the interval between the end of the group stage and the beginning of the round of 16 will last practically two and a half months. The base date for the start of the knockout stage is August 13th.

Are you going to the World Cup?

Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense are already confirmed in the FIFA World Cup. The competition takes place between June 15th and July 13th. It may be that someone falls early and receives an unwanted refreshment. But this depends on how the CBF will fit the national calendar into the scope made by Conmebol.

South American Playoff x Libertadores maintained

The CBF even tried take away, but the playoff between the third-placed teams in the Libertadores and the second-placed teams in the Sudamericana group stage is maintained. They already take place from July 15/16. Therefore, very close to the end of the World Cup.

Fifa date attached to the World Cup< /b>

Preparation for the Club World Cup may be affected by national team call-ups. There is a FIFA date (qualifiers games) at the beginning of June. The teams will meet between the 2nd and 10th. The Club World Cup starts five days later.

What will be the CBF's response?

Now the size of the problem will be effectively measured when the CBF fulfills the task of defining what the 2025 calendar will be like.

< Will everything stop during the World Cup? Will you preserve, even partially, the FIFA dates? How big are the States? The fact is that the year will not have more than 365 days.
