Despite facing many absences, Flamengo secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Grêmio last Thursday (13), at Maracanã. With two goals from Luiz Araújo, Rubro-Negro resumed the leadership of the Brazilian Championship Series A, equaling Bahia's 17 points, but surpassing the Bahian team on goal difference.
Forward Luiz Araújo, the highlight of the match, participated for the first time this Friday (14) in the program “Resenha do Jogo”, on FlaTV. After coming off the bench and scoring two great goals, Araújo commented on his memorable performance, training and Flamengo's next challenge.
THE FIRST GOAL
“It was a great, I spent the whole night rewatching the video. This finish is not easy to get right, but I was very happy. We practice a lot of finishing and crossing plays. We have Bruno Henrique and Pedro, who are very strong in the air. Thank God it's working. I'm very happy to score a goal and help Mengão.”
THE SECOND GOAL
“It's a move I always make in training. When I saw Kannemann coming, I thought about shooting under his leg, but he closed the space. So, I tried to give him a little touch and I was very happy with the finish. The ball hit the side of the net, with no chance for the goalkeeper.”
NEXT CHALLENGE
With the victory, Flamengo now turns its attention to the clash against Athletico -PR, this Sunday (16), at 4pm, at Ligga Arena. The team seeks to maintain the pace and continue leading the Brazilian Championship, consolidating its position at the top of the table.

In a recent interview, the narrator highlighted the lack of players accustomed to big decisions in the National Team, highlighting the Mais Querido midfielder as an exception

Apart from Gerson...all the other midfield players play in a small team..." - Galvão Bueno said
According to Galvão, the only midfielder on the current list who plays for a team with international importance is Gerson , a standout player for Flamengo. "Apart from Gerson, who plays for a big international club like Flamengo, all the other midfielders play for small or medium-sized teams," said the commentator.
During the conversation, Galvão stressed that he misses athletes with a history of recent great achievements. For him, there is a contrast in relation to the past, when Brazil was represented by players who shone in elite clubs in world football. One of the names mentioned was Bruno Guimarães, a midfielder for Newcastle. Despite recognizing the player's talent, Galvão pointed out that the English club, in his view, still does not have the necessary greatness to form the basis of a strong Brazilian team.
Galvão highlighted that, historically, Brazil has always relied on players from European giants or important national clubs. For him, the current reality is worrying and reveals a drop in the level of competitiveness of the players chosen. Without directly mentioning coach Dorival Júnior, Galvão made clear his discomfort with the choices made recently. The criticism extends to the coaching staff's difficulty in finding midfield players who bring experience in important decisions.
The narrator also drew attention to the fact that, in past World Cups, Brazil took to the World Cup players who were protagonists in clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and Manchester United, something that today seems far from reality. By praising Gerson , Galvão not only recognized the strength of Mengão in the current scenario, but also reinforced the need for the team to seek players who are accustomed to great challenges. For him, experience in winning clubs is essential to form a competitive group.
