São Paulo announced this Tuesday the signing of midfielder Marcos Antônio. The 24-year-old player, who belongs to Lazio, from Italy, was also in Flamengo's sights, but chose to join Tricolor Paulista. He arrives on a one-year loan, valid until June 30, 2025.

In his first statements as a São Paulo player, Marcos Antônio expressed great enthusiasm: “It’s a moment of great joy and happiness, a different feeling. I'm happy with the opportunity to play for São Paulo and I hope to help my new teammates. We're going to play together with our fans to achieve the club's goals," the midfielder told the club's official website.



NEGOTIATION DETAILS

For the loan, São Paulo will pay 150 thousand euros (approximately R$906 thousand). The contract includes a mandatory buyout clause if the player participates in 50% of the games during the loan period, with a minimum of 45 minutes played in each match.

If this condition is met, the purchase price is set at 4.2 million euros (around R$25.3 million), which will be paid in installments over the three seasons of the contract, from the middle of 2025 to mid-2027.

Desired by many clubs , Arrascaeta became one of the idols of Mais Querido due to his career at the club. The midfielder won major titles such as two Libertadores, Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão, in addition to being one of the best in his position in Brazil.

ARRASCAETA'S BOND WITH FLAMENGO

It is worth remembering that Arrascaeta has a link with Flamengo until the end of December 2026.
