Analyzing the team's direct competitors Flamengo, the defensive disparity becomes evident. Palmeiras, current leader of the championship, conceded 16 goals, almost half the number of Flamengo. Grêmio, who has shown consistency throughout the season, also has a more solid defense, with 18 goals conceded. Botafogo, another rival in the fight for the title, has an even more efficient defense, with only 14 goals conceded. These numbers show that, while Flamengo's attack is one of the most productive, the defense leaves something to be desired, compromising the team's overall performance.

Several factors contribute to Flamengo. The constant change in the defense duo is one of them. Since the beginning of the season, the coach had to deal with injuries and suspensions, which made it impossible to form a consistent starting center back duo. Furthermore, the lack of interaction between players in the defensive sector, aggravated by turnover, has negatively impacted the team's performance.
Another point worth highlighting is the exposure of the full-backs. In Flamengo's game model, full-backs are often used to support the attack, which sometimes leaves the defense unguarded. This strategy, despite being efficient in attack, has taken its toll on defensive recovery. Without adequate coverage, Flamengo has suffered from quick counterattacks from opponents, who exploit precisely this vulnerability.

In official matches, Real Madrid and Juventus have faced each other 21 times, with the Spanish team slightly ahead : ten wins against nine for the Italians, in addition to two draws. Interestingly, the last three meetings between them were friendlies held in the United States - two wins for Real Madrid and one Italian victory, this one by 3 to 1, in August 2023.
Coach Xabi Alonso will be able to count on two important new players. Defender Éder Militão, out for over 230 days due to injury, has recovered and could be included in the squad. Another possible debut is that of forward Kylian Mbappé, who has not yet played in the competition . On the other hand, Real will be without defender Alaba and Brazilian forward Endrick, both injured and out for the rest of the tournament.
On the Italian side, coach Igor Tudor is expected to field several starters who started on the bench against Manchester City . One highlight is young Yildiz, the team's top scorer in the World Cup with three goals. Defender Gatti, however, did not participate in the last training session and is doubtful. Savona, injured, is out of the competition. Tudor is still considering whether to field Conceição or Koopmeiners in midfield.

Juventus' likely line-up:
Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Gatti (or another) and Kelly; Costa, McKennie (Locatelli), Thuram and Cambiaso; Conceição (Koopmeiners) and Yildiz; Kolo Muani. Coach: Igor Tudor.

The Flamengo delegation arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday morning (1), after being eliminated from the Club World Cup. Thus, the Mais Querido is already focusing its attention on the match against São Paulo, for the Brasileirão. Thus, the coach of the São Paulo team, Hernán Crespo, projected the duel against Rubro-Negro.
Crespo plans the game against Flamengo: "Everyone wants to have this problem. If it's Flamengo at Maracanã and Bragantino away."
He continued: "It's very difficult (the Brasileirão), but we're in São Paulo. Welcome to the Campeonato Brasileiro. If it's not the most difficult in the world, it's very close to it. There are no easy games. We need to focus on ourselves, on building our identity ," said Crespo.
São Paulo hired Hernán Crespo so that the coach could rebuild the São Paulo team, which is close to the relegation zone of the Brasileirão. Currently, the team has only 12 points won, occupying the fourteenth place in the championship.
With the return of the players, coach Filipe Luís will begin preparing the team for the rest of the season. Now, Rubro-Negro will focus its attention on the Brazilian Championship, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil. In the Brasileirão, Mais Querido is the leader, with 24 points, in addition to being qualified for the round of 16 of the knockout stages.
Now, Flamengo will only return to the field in the week of July 13, when they face São Paulo, in the Brasileirão. In the meantime, the red-black squad will enjoy a few days of vacation before returning to activities.
The player has been one of the team's main names this season and had opportunities against Bayern, but was one of the most targeted after the defeat.

Flamengo bid farewell to the FIFA Club World Cup with sadness, but with their heads held high. After being eliminated in the round of 16 by Bayern Munich (GER), the red-and-black dressing room was marked by silence and reflection. The group acknowledged the solid campaign, which included leading a group with the powerful Chelsea (ENG), but regretted the tough encounter with the German giant in the knockout stages. However, one player left the field visibly dejected: Luiz Araújo.
The striker, who had been one of Flamengo 's standout players in the match, was tireless in his defensive support and caused danger with two shots in the first half - one hitting the post, the other requiring a miracle from Neuer. But, despite the good overall performance, two individual errors ended up being decisive for the final result.
After Gerson's goal, which put Flamengo back in the game in the first half, Luiz Araújo retreated to the red-black area and managed another tackle. However, when trying to clear the ball, he failed to hit it hard and ended up giving it to Goretzka , who had the freedom to score Bayern's third.
The final blow would come in the second half. Right after the penalty converted by Jorginho, which made the score 3-2, Flamengo still dreamed of a draw. But in the 28th minute, Luiz Araújo tried to play out of defense, dribbled past two opponents , but was dispossessed by the third. The ball fell to Harry Kane, who made no mistake and sealed the score at 4-2.
Luiz Araújo remained on the field until the final whistle, but left the pitch with his head down. According to reports, the player was inconsolable in the locker room, preferring silence while he digested the pain of being eliminated . He was one of the last to leave the stadium and cried when he was reunited with his family and friends. On social media, the striker began to be criticized by some fans, being blamed for the mistakes that led to the opponents' goals.
Flamengo landed in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday morning (1st). The squad will have a few days off before the return match , scheduled for Saturday (5), when they will begin preparing for the next Brasileirão match. The CBF has not yet made the date of the 13th round official, but Rubro-Negro should return to the field on July 13th, against São Paulo, at Maracanã.
