Left back Alex Sandro held a press conference this Thursday afternoon (05), at CT Ninho do Urubu. In one of the questions asked to the full-back, the athlete thanked him for the effort in signing him and spoke about his expectation of debuting with the red-black shirt.

"I wanted to thank you for your words. I also have my words of thanks for your trust in myself. I'm sure that all of this will be rewarded on the field. I feel very happy, proud, honored to be part of the huge family that is Flamengo. It's wonderful and it's a club that any player would like to play for", he highlighted.

Alex Sandro was the third reinforcement that Flamengo announced in this transfer window. The 33-year-old athlete arrives to fill the squad's shortage on the left side, as Matías Viña had a serious knee injury, as well as a fractured tibia and, as a result, will only play again next season.

Name on Bid

Before even giving an interview, Alex Sandro already had his name registered in the CBF's Daily Newsletter (BID). In the duel with Corinthians, last Sunday (01), the full-back could have already entered the field. However, as he had not yet participated in any activity with the red and black squad, the player was left out.

First training

After the game against Corinthians, the squad of Flamengo received three days off. However, Alex Sandro and Gonzalo Plata, recently signed by the club, had no rest and trained at CT Ninho do Urubu. It was only this Thursday (05) that the full-back and striker trained in their first activity with their new teammates.

Midfielder Gerson is going through a slump at Zenit. He hasn't started in almost a month and hasn't played since August 23rd . Signed for €25 million from Flamengo in July, the midfielder has played six games for the Russian club, without scoring or providing assists, four of which as a starter and two coming off the bench.

According to information gathered by journalist Jorge Nicola's blog, the athlete's departure from Russia may only be a matter of time , but a return to Mais Querido is currently completely ruled out.

WORN OUT RELATIONSHIP

Gerson's relationship with Flamengo deteriorated after the transfer to Zenit. At the time, the midfielder demanded a salary exceeding R$2 million to renew his contract. The football department, led by José Boto, offered R$1.5 million , but the impasse was only resolved when the release clause was reduced to €25 million, an amount Zenit agreed to pay.

Furthermore, the player's father, who acts as his agent, is now frowned upon by Flamengo 's current management. The rift between the boards of Flamengo and Zenit reinforces the possibility of a possible return .

JORGINHO AND SAÚL REDUCE POSSIBILITIES

The spot that once belonged to Gerson is now occupied by reinforcements who have quickly won over the fans. Jorginho and Saúl, signed in the July transfer window, have been receiving praise from the coaching staff and fans for their performances in midfield, minimizing any nostalgia for the Brazilian's absence.

Flamengo beat Juventude 2-0 this Sunday (14), in Caxias do Sul, and ended a 28-year taboo without triumphs at Alfredo Jaconi. More than the victory in the 23rd round of the Brasileirão, coach Filipe Luís highlighted the attitude of the squad , praising the willingness to train even after a long season.

PRAISE TO THE CAST

At a press conference, Filipe revealed he was impressed with the group's dedication during training during the FIFA World Cup break: " They're in a nine-month season, no one complains about fatigue, everyone wants to train, everyone competed to their fullest . The manager emphasized that daily dedication is directly reflected in the results on the field: " We came to a very difficult field, against a team very well trained by Carpini . This victory is the result of the very high level of work throughout the week," he added.

HISTORIC VICTORY

In the duel, Arrascaeta opened the scoring with a header from a Saúl Ñíguez cross in the first half. In the second half, Emerson Royal secured the victory in the 41st minute, also from above .
