Flamengo seems to have created a method after great financial return with the transfer of defender Otávio in Portuguese football. Rubro-Negro has already traded seven Boys from the Nest to lesser-known teams in Portugal in this mid-year window alone. Most deals do not involve financial compensation, and the club keeps a percentage of the rights betting on future sales.

Otávio earned 3.5 million euros (R$ 19.2 million) into Flamengo's coffers when he transfer from Famalicão to Porto at the beginning of this year. The defender had no space at Mengão, who agreed to release him for 500 thousand euros (R$2.7 million) at the beginning of 2023, but kept 30% of the rights. He quickly stood out in the Portuguese league and was bought in a total transaction of 12 million euros (R$ 64.2 million).

Now, the football department indicates trying to create new similar situations with young people with little or no space in the professional team. There were seven athletes traded in this window, only three with immediate financial compensation, and in all of them they keep some portion of the player thinking about a future sale.

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (24), hundreds of red and black fans gathered at Galeão Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, to support the Flamengo as they embark for Montevideo, where they will face Peñarol, in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores. Despite recent criticism of coach Tite and the team's performance, the moment was one of unconditional support, in a traditional "AeroFla".

CHANGE IN BOARDING AVOIDS CONTACT BETWEEN FANS

Unlike other occasions, Mengão's boarding took place through the airport's cargo terminal, and not through the main hall. The measure was taken to avoid possible conflicts, as Botafogo was also scheduled to travel at a close time. Despite the more difficult access to the venue, several fans gathered at the railings to show support and shout words of encouragement, such as "Let's turn around, Mengo".

The Mais Querido followed on a chartered flight to Uruguay in the late afternoon. In the neighboring country, the team led by Tite will make the final adjustments for the decisive clash. With the 1-0 defeat in the first game, at Maracanã, CRF needs a victory to continue in the competition. If you win by one goal difference, the place will be determined on penalties; a victory by two goals guarantees direct qualification to the semi-finals

During the trip to the airport, journalist Wesley Ramon, from FlazoeiroTV, managed to film a tribute to Gabigol. The image shows a flag of the Prince of Gávea, written ''Predestinado''.

Flamengo is preparing for one of the most important clashes of the season this Thursday (26), when they will face Peñarol in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. The match, scheduled for 7pm (Brasília time), will be held at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium, in Montevideo. After losing the first game 1-0, Rubro-Negro needs a victory by two goals to guarantee direct classification. In the event of a tie on the aggregate score, the place will be decided on penalties.

EXPECTATION FOR LÉO ORTIZ'S RETURN TO THE HOME TEAM

One of the most anticipated points for the match is the possible return of Léo Ortiz to the starting lineup. The player, who has been improvised as a midfielder, trained among the starters and should occupy the role of a classic '5' shirt, playing alongside De La Cruz in midfield. Ortiz, who is originally a defender, has stood out as a midfielder and has established himself as a fundamental player in the second half of the season.

In the first match against Peñarol, Ortiz started on the bench by decision of coach Tite, but this time he should have the chance to start among the 11, reinforcing the team in a decisive duel for Mengão's aspirations in the continental tournament.

PROBABLE SQUAD FOR MENGÃO

A The expectation is that CRF enter the field with: Rossi, Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro, Léo Ortiz, De La Cruz, Arrascaeta, Gerson, Bruno Henrique and Plata. This formation, led by Tite, aims to increase the team's offensive strength and overcome Peñarol's solid defense, which secured the advantage in the first match.

FLAMENGO NEEDS TO REVERSE THE SCORE With a 1-0 defeat at Maracanã, Mengão enters the field needing a convincing victory. If you win by a goal difference, the decision will be taken to penalties. However, a two-goal victory guarantees direct qualification to the semi-finals, without the need for extra time or penalty shootouts.
