O Flamengo met the opponents of the group stage of the Libertadores 2024 earlier this week. Thus, Mais Querido's first match in the competition will be against Millionarios (COL), in the April 2nd, at the El Campín Stadium, in Bogotá. Even though the game is away from home, Rubro Negro has "good" news: the stadium will not be at full capacity.
This is because there will be a concert by Colombian singer Karol G on the 5th and 6th. Therefore, due to the stage setup, only 24 thousand tickets will be sold for the game Millionarios x Flamengo. The stadium has a capacity for 39 thousand fans and on Wednesday night (20), the club issued a statement about the situation.
ANOTHER OPPONENT FOR FLAMENGO
Despite having few fans rooting against it, Flamengowill still have another opponent: altitude. The Millionarios team plays at more than 2,600 meters of altitude. Furthermore, the Mais Querido squad will have a marathon this week, as on Saturday (7) they will face Nova Iguaçu in the return match of the Carioca final.
MILLIONARIOS ANNOUNCEMENT
“Millonarios FC informs that, shortly after the definition of the draw for the Libertadores group stage, the match against Flamengo will be played on March 2nd, at 5 pm (7 pm Brasília time), at Nemesio Camacho Stadium 'El Campín' in Bogotá.
However, on the weekend, on April 5th and 6th, the show by the artist Karol G will take place. So, Millonarios previously got in touch with the businessmen of the show in order to ensure that the stadium was available for the date on which the international match was scheduled.
Millionarios consulted Conmebol in order to be able to play this first commitment with the stage structure of the musical event in the southern sector of stadium, taking into account that this type of situation has already happened previously in different stadiums in South America. Due to the size of this installation, a little more than 10 thousand spaces will be unavailable to fans in the south lateral, western high and low lateral areas and eastern south high and low.
In the next few hours, we will announce the process and conditions for ticket sales for this first Libertadores game. It is important to take into account that due to these special conditions, only 24,000 tickets will be available, 20,000 of which are reserved for members, who will have priority purchase, and 4,500 for the general public.”

One of Flamengo's biggest moves in 2025 was the signing of Jorginho, formerly of Arsenal (ENG). The number 21 quickly adapted to Filipe Luís's system and has already established himself as a starter in the Flamengo midfield. In an interview with ESPN, coach Mikel Arteta, who managed the Italian-Brazilian in England, recalled conversations with the player before his transfer to the Rio de Janeiro club.
Arteta talks about Jorginho at Flamengo: "He had a very clear desire to end his career in Brazil"
"We had several conversations to understand how far we wanted to go together, or not. He was very clear about his desire to finish his career in Brazil; he was waiting for an opportunity. When it came, I saw him very convinced, at every level ," Arteta said, before adding:
"First on a personal level, with his family, and then on a professional level, returning to compete in the country of his birth. It was an honor for me to have him here. I made the most of my day-to-day life with him, not only as a player , but also as a person and a leader . I wish him all the best," concluded the coach.
Flamengo officially announced Jorginho's arrival in June 2025, with the Club World Cup in mind. The club didn't have to pay Arsenal, as the player had already terminated his contract with the English club . Since then, the midfielder has played 13 games, scored one goal, and provided two assists.
With Jorginho available, Flamengo returns to the field this Wednesday (20) to face Internacional, at Beira-Rio, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores . Mengão only needs a draw to qualify for the quarterfinals.
