A man who won US$1 million (equivalent to R$5.4 million) in the US lottery went to receive the prize wearing a Flamengo shirt. In this sense, Frederico Sampaio won a prize after buying a US$5 (R$27) ticket. A resident of Peabody, Massachusetts, he bought a "Double Your Money" card, a type of scratch card.
In addition to the Flamengo shirt, he wore a United States hat and a camouflage mask to receive the value. He received a check in hand on Sunday (7). Despite winning a million-dollar prize, he will receive less than US$650,000.
According to the Fox 22 News channel, Frederico chose to receive the entire amount of the award in one go, which reduces the amount received. He will have the equivalent of R$3.5 million on hand, but the money will still be tax deductible.
Money will be used to help the family, he stated. When organizing the event, the man stated that he will invest the money in his relatives.
