Oswaldo de Oliveira spent time at major Brazilian football clubs and was one of Gabigol's first coaches during Santos' time. In 2014, a year after the number 10's debut, the player was managed by Oswaldo, who praised him in an interview.
When participating in the Charla Podcast, Oswaldo de Oliveira commented on his way of working with young players, who still are in the process of evolution. The coach, now without a club, stated that he liked to put his athletes to work on specific fundamentals after training and said that Gabigol was one of those who "suffered" at his hands.

“That's my Brother, I took the choir. The kid worked a lot. For me, he is one of the best finishers in Brazilian football to date. Right foot, left foot, open your eyes, move your neck... Another great kid, Gabigol is very good at work”, he concluded.
INDEFINITION IN THE RENEWAL WITH GABIGOL
The number 10 and Flamengo's idol had his worst season in 2023 since arriving at the club in 2019. Thus, talks about renewing the relationship with the player were stopped by Rodolfo Landim after internal pressure from advisors who want to see what the striker's 2024 will be like.
Gabriel's name has been speculated at Corinthians, however, his agent broke his silence and said he trusts the word of Flamengo's directors, and that the renewal will come sooner or later. Therefore, Gabigol will remain at the club for a few more years.

Flamengo returns to the field this Sunday (3) to face Ceará, for the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship, at Arena Castelão. For the duel, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) defined the refereeing team, with Rodrigo Jose Pereira de Lima, from Pernambuco, chosen as the main referee . Alongside him will be Neuza Ines Back (SP) and Francisco Chaves Bezerra Junior (PE) as assistants. The command of the VAR will be the responsibility of Ilbert Estevam da Silva (SP).
This will be Flamengo 's first match in 2025 refereed by Rodrigo Jose Pereira de Lima . Despite this, the referee has already officiated previous matches for the Rubro-Negro, such as the 0-0 draw with Palmeiras at Allianz Parque in the 2024 Brasileirão.
Flamengo enters this round as the leader of the Brasileirão, with 36 points, two more than second-placed Cruzeiro, but with a game in hand . Ceará, meanwhile, sits in tenth place with 21 points. Mengão relies on its strong away record to emerge victorious.

This Sunday night (03) promises to be full of strong emotions for the red-black fans. Flamengo faces Ceará, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) , at Arena Castelão, for the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship. For the clash, coach Filipe Luís will have eight absences and three players suspended .
Rubro-Negro has a long list of absences for the match, and will not be able to count on : Erick Pulgar (surgery on his right foot), Danilo (injury on his right thigh), Michael (pain in his left ankle), Everton Cebolinha (tendinitis), Luiz Araújo (preserved due to load control), Matheus Cunha (patellar tendinitis in his left knee), Pedro and Wallace Yan (suspended due to a third yellow card).
Three athletes enter the field with the risk of suspension for the next round. Allan, Jorginho and Léo Pereira are suspended with two yellow cards and, if they receive the third, they will be out of the duel against Mirassol, on Saturday (09).
Despite the absences, Filipe Luís will have important reinforcements. For the first time in the 2025 Brasileirão , Saúl Ñíguez, Emerson Royal, Samuel Lino, and Victor Hugo were included in the squad, and they are available again. The number 16 has a good chance of starting this match.

The match between Ceará and Flamengo will not be broadcast on Rede Globo , which has opted to show the match between Botafogo and Cruzeiro. However, fans can watch the match live on broadcast TV on Record, as well as on YouTube via CazéTV, or on Premiere (pay-per-view).
After beating Atlético-MG in the last round, Flamengo took the lead in the Brasileirão with 36 points . Cruzeiro, who lost to Ceará, dropped to second place with 34 points. Flamengo will be looking to maintain its top spot with another away win.
Coach Filipe Luís is still dealing with a series of important absences . Striker Michael is out of the game with ankle pain, as is midfielder Erick Pulgar, who is recovering from a fractured right foot suffered at the Club World Cup.
Midfielder Nicolás De La Cruz is still recovering from his physical condition and will also be unavailable. Forwards Everton Cebolinha and Luiz Araújo were rested due to pressure management . Pedro and Wallace Yan are also out, but due to accumulated yellow cards.
