Matheus Sávio, a product of Ninho, will be one of the former Flamengo players who will compete in the Super Club World Cup, which will take place between June and July. A standout for Urawa Red Diamonds (JAP), the Brazilian will face River Plate (ARG), Monterrey (MEX) and Internazionale (ITA) in Group E. Thus, he did not hide his desire to meet the Mais Querido again in the tournament .

" I want to play against the best and be among the best .

" It would be an honor to be able to advance to the next stage and play against a Brazilian team. Among the teams that will be there, facing Flamengo would be special because of what I experienced at the club and the gratitude I have. It's a great team, and these challenges motivate us. I want to play against the best and be among the best. At 17, when I moved up to the professional team, everything happened very quickly. Maybe I didn't make the most of the opportunity, but it was a learning experience ," said Matheus Sávio, in an interview with 'GE'.

FLAMENGO IN THE SUPER WORLD CUP

The Mais Querido is in Group D of the Super Club World Cup and will debut in the tournament against Espérance (TUN), on June 16. Four days later, the Rubro-Negro will face Chelsea (ENG). Finally, Flamengo will end the qualifying stage against another team, which will still be defined by FIFA.

MATHEUS SÁVIO'S PASSAGE AT FLAMENGO

Matheus Sávio made his debut in the Mais Querido professional team in 2015 and left the club in 2019 to join Kashiwa Reysol (JAP) for around R$4.6 million. With the Manto Sagrado, he played 25 matches, scoring four goals and won the 2016 São Paulo Junior Football Cup and the 2017 Carioca .

Flamengo faces a long and challenging season, with competitions ongoing until December. To strengthen the squad, the club remains attentive to the market and remains interested in Andreas Pereira , with the intention of offering a four-year contract to the midfielder.

According to journalist Julio Miguel Neto, Flamengo is monitoring the player's situation at Fulham (ENG) and, despite contact made by intermediaries at the beginning of the year, the board does not intend to exceed the four-season limit on the contract . The English club is protecting itself with a contract until June 2026 and recently rejected Palmeiras' attempts to sign the midfielder.

NEGOTIATION WITH ANDREAS PEREIRA

In early 2025, Andreas ' representatives offered the player to Flamengo, but Fulham set a price of 20 million euros (R$122.6 million). The Rio de Janeiro club considers this amount to be high and, for now, has not shown any willingness to pay the amount demanded by the English club. The red-and-black club is still in talks with Lucas Paquetá 's staff, but any progress will only come after the player's trial .

JORGINHO ALSO ON THE RADAR

In addition to Andreas, Flamengo is in advanced negotiations with Jorginho , from Arsenal (ENG). Football director José Boto and the player's representatives recently met in Barra da Tijuca , and the expectation is for a positive outcome in the coming days. There will be a new meeting with the player's representatives later this week.

FOCUS ON THE LIBERTADORES

While working to strengthen the squad, Flamengo focuses its attention on the debut of the Libertadores. Rubro-Negro faces Deportivo Táchira (VEN) this Thursday (03), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), away from home, in the first round of the competition. Mengão has never been defeated on Venezuelan soil , with a record of six wins and one draw.
