Gabigol's process to obtain the suspensive effect on the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) gained another chapter. The prosecution sent the documentation and now the Flamengo striker awaits action from the Swiss Court to find out whether or not he will be fit to play.
On April 2nd, Gabriel's defense sent all the necessary documentation to officially open the request for suspensive effect. Therefore, with the documents, one of the three arbitrators who will participate in the trial was appointed. The same process is carried out by the prosecution, which sent the documentation and appointed its representative arbitrator only last Monday, on the last day of the deadline established by CAS.
How does it work?
The judgment at CAS works as follows: three referees participate in the judgment of the piece, one appointed by Gabigol's defense, another appointed by ABCD (Brazilian Doping Control Authority) and another by CAS, who is considered the president of the table.
The defense representative is English and the prosecution representative is German. The expectation is that CAS will appoint its representative by the end of the week. From this indication, the judgment of the suspensive effect can happen at any time. There will be no date set. The parties will be notified of the outcome of the process through an official statement from the court.
Expectations
The defense believes that, despite being within the deadline, There was a significant delay for ABCD to continue the process. The defense maintains positive expectations to give Gabigol playing conditions and hopes that the result will come out by the end of April.

Flamengo basketball faces another international challenge. Starting this Thursday (September 18), in Singapore, the club competes in the FIBA Intercontinental Club Cup , considered the world championship of the sport. Flamengo TV will be the sole broadcaster of the games throughout Brazil, bringing every play of the competition to the Red-Black Nation, which brings together the continental champions in pursuit of the ultimate club basketball title.
João Guilherme will be the narrator, while Duda Machado, a Flamengo basketball legend, will provide commentary. Emerson Santos, also known as Emershow, will be reporting from the court, directly from Singapore, reinforcing Flamengo TV's exclusive coverage.
FlaBasquete debuts this Thursday against NBA G League United (USA) at 6 a.m. (Brasília time). On September 19, also at 6 a.m., the team faces the Illawarra Hawks of Australia . The decisive games are scheduled for the weekend.
Flamengo has already conquered the world twice. In 2014, the team defeated Maccabi Haifa of Israel 90-77 at Maracanãzinho , featuring players like Marcelinho Machado, Marquinhos, Laprovittola, and Olivinha.

Bahia's 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro last Monday (15) represented not only the Celeste's turnaround at Fonte Nova, but also the end of a taboo. That's what will happen with Arrascaeta, probably with a renewal before the due date," the director added.
In recent months, Flamengo has prioritized players with contracts that expire in December 2025. Cases like Erick Pulgar, who extended his contract until December 2028 , and Guillermo Varela, who extended his contract until December 2027 in August, reinforce this policy. The early negotiation with Arrascaeta, therefore, demonstrates the Uruguayan's importance to the squad.
