Flamengo's new coach, Tite, made his presentation to the club this Monday and shared that he had a conversation with Gabigol about his absence from the 2022 World Cup. During his first press conference as Flamengo coach, Tite addressed the relationship with the players, in particular, with the number 10 and Pedro, highlighting these themes as recurring points of discussion.
- I spoke with Gabi. I said they competed to go to the World Cup. It was straight talk, without filter. But they (Pedro and Gabigol) did not compete for the same characteristics. One played as a pivot and the other as a movement player. That's why they can act together, within the balance that the team needs to have - said the coach.
His debut with Manto Sagrado is scheduled to take place this Thursday (19), at Brazilian. Due to the FIFA Date of October, Flamengo's game calendar received this gap of 'free days', which were great for Tite to have plenty of time to prepare the team. The number 99 scored so far just four goals in 26 games. In the last year of his contract, the 28-year-old player accumulated poor performances, lost space in the team and was also involved in off-field controversies. Currently, he is the last option in the position for the coaching staff.
His worst record for the club so far is 20 goals scored, which he had in 2023. In previous years, he found the net 29 times ( 2022), 34 times (2021), 27 times (2020) and 43 times (2019). His highest scoring season was precisely the first, when the player was on loan to Fla from Inter Milan.
