After Flamengo's 1-0 defeat to Peñarol (URU), Tite was the target of insults from fans at Maracanã. The coach even became a recurring theme in questions directed to candidates for the club's presidency. In interviews, the main candidates presented divergent opinions about Tite's continued leadership of the team.

Rodrigo Dunshee, a candidate supported by the situation, praised Tite, but stated that he has not yet made a definitive decision about the permanence of the team. coach if elected. Luiz Eduardo Baptista, BAP, highlighted that he will need time to evaluate the issue.

Wallim Vasconcellos, in turn, was the most direct in relation to Tite's situation, stating that, if elected, the contract of the coach will not be renewed. Maurício Gomes de Mattos adopted a more evasive stance, without committing himself. Finally, Delair Dumbrosck conditioned Tite's continuation on the results achieved by the end of the season.

Tite's contract

Tite's contract with Flamengo runs until December of this year, the which puts the decision on its renewal in the hands of the club's next president. The termination fine is calculated based on the technical committee's monthly salary, which is around R$1 million, multiplied by the number of months remaining in the contract. Therefore, if Tite were fired now, with three months left until the end of his contract, the fine would be approximately R$3 million. However, the current board does not plan to fire the coach before the end of the contract.

Recent statements from the main candidates about Tite:

< /b> Rodrigo Dunshee:

“Tite is an exceptional coach, he is our commander. I haven't had the opportunity to discuss the future with him yet, but I plan to do so soon. For now, I don’t have a definitive position on this matter.” (Interview with the Jannuzzi & Abuzze podcast).

Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP):

“Given the circumstances that Flamengo faces, it would be deeply unfair to evaluate Tite's performance in a negative way . The club was in a much more complicated situation before his arrival, and he is still competing in three competitions. Responsibility for challenges does not rest exclusively with the technical committee. Let’s calmly evaluate what’s best for Flamengo.” (Interview with the Coluna do Fla podcast).

Wallim Vasconcellos:

“Particularly, I don’t like Tite’s style of play. His contract ends at the end of the year and I don't intend to renew it. Football needs to move into the 21st century, and I don’t believe that Tite is aligned with what we imagine for Flamengo from 2025 onwards.” (Interview with Lance newspaper).

Maurício Gomes de Mattos (MGM):

At campaign events, Maurício Gomes de Mattos is usually evasive about Tite's stay, stating that he intends to put together a professional structure to define the ideal coach for the beginning of his management in 2025.

Delair Dumbrosck:

“Whether Tite will continue or not, the results will determine. He is an excellent coach, he has a great commission, but only the results will tell.” (Interview on YouTube by Coluna do Fla).

The Flamengo was defeated by Peñarol last Thursday (19), 1-0. However, the Uruguayans' goal generated controversy, as Erick Pulgar kicked the ball into his own hand when trying to clear it. Thus, Conmebol released the audio of the VAR analysis.

Five minutes into the second half, at a Peñarol intersection in the Mais Querido, a player from the Uruguayan team deflects the ball to the middle of the small area and Pulgar, when trying to move away with his back, kicks it into his own arm. The move generated a lot of complaints from the opponent's players, but the referee did not check it with the VAR.

So, this past Friday (20), Conmebol released the analysis of the move, and the official audio from the VAR booth, in communication with the field referee, Jésus Valenzuela, at the time of the play.

VAR AUDIO

“In the 50th minute, a defender in red and black ends up unintentionally throwing the ball into his arm, which was there as a result of his movement, justifiable by the action he performs. This does not constitute a hand infraction, as the player throws the ball against his own arm in an indeliberate manner”, explained the analysis of the play.

“The referee observed the action, and see that the game continues . The VAR carried out its protocol review, analyzing it with the appropriate angles, speeds and correct considerations regarding the action. And it confirms the original decision on the field”, he added.

Already in the VAR booth, the decision was taken quickly and the analysis of the move was carried out quickly.

“Check completes, takes the hand, but it comes from his own foot, from the inside out”, pointed out VAR number one, Juan Soto.

One of Flamengo's presidential candidates, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, better known as BAP, announced that the club's possible new stadium should cost approximately R$2.5 billion. The project, which aims to build an arena in the Gasometer region, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, foresees a capacity for 70 thousand fans. The statement was given in an exclusive interview with Lance!, as part of a series with all the candidates for the red-black election, scheduled for December this year.

< b>COST AND LEGAL CHALLENGES

BAP, when estimating the value of R$ 2.5 billion for the construction, highlighted that the club will face legal challenges regarding the acquisition of the land, which belonged to a fund administered by Caixa Econômica Federal and was expropriated by Rio City Hall. He believes that there will be a legal imbroglio over the area, but he was confident in overcoming these obstacles.

“I estimate that a stadium of 70 thousand seats will cost around R$2.5 billion. I am absolutely sure that there will be a legal battle, because, in Brazil, this ends up being politically influenced as well. We hope that, with the team we have, we can overcome these challenges and find a solution that benefits all parties involved — Caixa, the Caixa fund, the City Hall, the State government, the fans and Flamengo”, stated the candidate .

OPPOSITION TO THE PURCHASE OF THE PORTUGUESE CLUB

Another point addressed by Luiz Eduardo Baptista was his opposition to the purchase of Leixões, a second division club in Portugal. The CRF is in negotiations to acquire the Portuguese team with the aim of strengthening the club's internationalization, but BAP was vehemently against the idea.

“Flamengo gains absolutely nothing from this. It's a waste of time and energy, a terrible idea for the moment the club is going through. If I am elected, at whatever stage this project is at, it will be immediately cancelled”, he declared.

The election to choose the club's new president will take place in December and will define who will lead Flamengo for the next three years. BAP is one of the strong names in the electoral race and seeks to implement a modernization project, focusing on the club's infrastructure and finances.
