The world of anime, comics and the like, woke up in mourning this Friday. That's because Akira Toriyama, the Japanese author who created the popular and influential Dragon Ball series, died of a brain problem last week, aged 68, according to his production studio. In this sense, Flamengo issued a note lamenting the death of the artist, who left behind one of the most viewed and acclaimed works on the planet.

Following the note:

"Today marks a week since Akira Toriyama, manga genius, left the world of the living. Just as our king Zico appeared in Brazil and enchanted even the other side of the planet, Toriyama did the same leaving Japan. Here is our tribute to the creator of Dragon Ball, who will continue to inspire us to be someone with greater power than you already have.”

Toriyama was the mind behind the martial arts animation franchise with Son Goku, a boy from outer space with superhuman strength and a monkey's tail who embarks on a quest for the seven Dragon Balls. The Dragon Ball universe remains one of Japan's most successful global hits, captivating the hearts of many teenagers and adults who love manga from all over the world since its debut in the 1980s.

Relationship between Dragon Ball and Flamengo

In the 2019 season, Flamengo's magical year, Gabigol and Bruno Henrique, celebrated a goal with fusion movements, in homage to the anime Dragon Ball Z, where the characters Goku and Vejeta unite into a single warrior to defeat Majin-bu, in the Bu saga, a of the most watched in history.

It is worth remembering that the two players returned to perform the "fusion" on other occasions, becoming a kind of standard celebration for the duo. Furthermore, the anime has been seen and has thousands of red and black fans.
