For the Laranjeiras team to be champions again, they will have to break a long taboo
|
0This Monday (26), the presentation ceremony of the new Fluminense museum took place in Rio de Janeiro. Thus, in his speech, the club's president, Mário Bittencourt, left humility aside and guaranteed that the Laranjeiras team will be three-time Rio champions in 2024.
“President (of FERJ), don't take down the flag, because the we’re going to be three”, said Mário Bittencourt, laughing, in a message given to the president of FERJ, Rubens Lopes. The phrase made the fans present vibrate. On the other hand, Fábio, goalkeeper of the main team, lowered his head shyly.
TO BE CHAMPION, A TABOO MUST BE BROKEFor Fluminense to achieve the third Rio championship, the team de Laranjeiras will have to break an uncomfortable taboo for the club, which doesn't know what it's like to win a state classic for ten matches. During the period, the team led by Fernando Diniz lost twice to Flamengo and drew another three. Furthermore, there were two draws and a defeat with Vasco and saw Botafogo win on two occasions.
The team is currently in second place in the Guanabara Cup and can face Nova Iguaçu, Vasco, Botafogo and even Flamengo in the Carioca semifinals. This way, to be champion, the team will have to make a classic.
FLAMENGO'S SITUATION IN CARIOCA AND NEXT MATCHWith the victory against Fluminense last Sunday (25), Flamengo guaranteed first place in the Guanabara Cup and the title in the first round. Mais Querido has 24 points, against 21 from Nova Iguaçu and Tricolor.
In this way, Rubro Negro will lift the Guanabara Cup trophy next Saturday (2), at 4pm, in a match against Madureira valid for the last round, at Maracanã.
Rubro-negro started the season on the right foot in women's volleyball

0The first women's volleyball competition is Mengão's! This Friday (27), Flamengo won the National Cup of Pro-Vôlei Clubs. Against the current Superliga champion, Bernardinho's team played 3 sets to 0 at Minas, with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-17. The duel took place at Ginásio Wilson Mânica, in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul.
The tournament featured three clubs and serves as preparation for the 2024/25 Superliga. On Wednesday (25), Flamengo beat Maringá. On Thursday (26), Minas also beat the team from Paraná. Therefore, this Friday (27th) the big decision took place, which had a packed gym.
Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.
SuperligaThe dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.
In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

The event will be held in Central Park, New York

0FIFA will announce the venues for the 2025 Super Club World Cup this Saturday (28). The announcement will be made during the Global Citizen Festival. The event will be held in Central Park, New York. FIFA did not detail how many cities and stadiums will host the 2025 edition. This will be the first time that the tournament will feature 32 teams.
The Super World Cup will be held between June 15 and July 13, 2025 The competition already has 30 qualified teams, with three Brazilians among them: Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense. Brazil may have one more representative. This is because Atlético-MG and Botafogo are fighting for the last South American place in the competition — the Libertadores title gives them the place. Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.
The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.
In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

Mais Querido beat Nova Iguaçu in the two finals and won the 38th State title
|
0O Flamengohas not lifted a Carioca Championship title since 2021. In total, there were two seasons of seeing Fluminense prevail in the finals and keep the trophy . Now, Mais Querido has 38 titles in the competition. However, the Rubro-Negro board has a lot to do with this.
Right after Flamengo in front of Palestino, Tite held a press conference and spoke about priorities for the season. The coach is waiting, for example, for contact with the Red and Black board to understand whether to prioritize the Brasileirão or the Libertadores. However, he drew attention when he mentioned the behind-the-scenes information about the latest matches.
TITE REVEALS THAT THE BOARD HAS PRIORIZED CARIOCAAfter scoring a wide score of 3 to 0 in the first game of the Carioca final, it was expected that Tite would spare half of the squad in the second leg with the Libertadores in mind. However, the coach, even after the players had an exhausting sequence, selected all the starters in the second game.
This is because Marcos Braz, Rodolfo Landim and Bruno Spindel wanted to win the State and asked Tite prioritize the tournament. Thus, the coach did not give the athletes a rest following a request from the board of Mais Querido.
“It's sitting down to see what the management also wants. You have to be in tune. We established, when the management stated: our priority is to win the Carioca Championship. Bruno Spíndel, Marcos (Braz) put it, the president put it, the vice put it. We talk about this in the locker room”, reveals Tite.
FOCUS ON THE DEBUT OF THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIPNow, with the entire squad available, Tite will focus on the activities for Rubro-Negro’s debut in the Brasileirão. Flamengo debuts in the competition next Sunday (14), at 4pm, against Atlético GO, at the Serra Dourada Stadium.
