This Sunday (03), the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) announced the names of the athletes competing for the 2023 Best Athlete of the Year trophy. The list includes the great red-black gymnast, Rebeca Andrade, who had a spectacular year, full of medals in different competitions. In addition to her, tennis player Bia Haddad (tennis) and surfer Filipe Toledo were also nominated.
The winners, in the female and male categories, will be revealed on December 15th, at the Brazil Olímpico Award ceremony, in Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). Ana Patrícia and Duda (beach volleyball) are also competing with Bia and Rebeca, and alongside Filipe are Hugo Calderano (table tennis) and Marcus D´Almeida (archery).
In 2022, Rebeca, together with Alison dos Santos, from athletics, received the award given by the COB after winning Olympic and world medals. In 2023, Rebeca surprised again, becoming the country's most awarded gymnast at the world championships. She was runner-up in the Team Gymnastics World Championship, along with Team Brazil.
There were 14 medals this year: seven gold, six silver and one bronze. At the Brazilian Championship, she helped lead the Flamengo team to first place in the team competition, on the uneven bars, beam and floor. At the World Cup, she settled for a silver, on the uneven bars.
At the World Championships, in Antwerp, Belgium, she dominated. In the individual all-around, she achieved silver, after winning gold on vault, bronze on beam and silver on floor. At the Pan American Games she did even better: silver in the all-around, gold in the vault and beam, as well as another silver in the uneven bars.
The COB ceremony will also celebrate Team Brazil's historic participation in the Pan American Games in Santiago, held between October and November this year. At the end of the competition, the country took second place overall and broke the record for total medals (205) and the record for gold medals won in the same edition (66).
"All competitors for the Best Athlete of the Year trophy at the 2023 Olympic Brazil Awards are high-level representatives of Brazilian sport. It is important to highlight the quality of these athletes and the promising future for our sport in different modalities. The year 2023 was great results for our country and it is an enormous pride for the COB to celebrate these achievements and pay homage to the great stars of the show, the athletes. It was a year of many successes, especially in the Pan American Games, and in several world championships. The most short Olympic cycle in history is coming to an end and Brazil continues firmly towards Paris 2024", stated Paulo Wanderley, president of the COB.

This Saturday (29), the pre-candidate for the presidency of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, the "Bap", surprised everyone. The former member of Rodolfo Landim's political group signed the proposed statutory amendment that aims to make it difficult to implement the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) at the club.
According to information from the Mundo Rubro-Negro portal, Bap, who is president of Flamengo's Board of Directors, is another member of Flamengo's policy Mais Querido which aims to complicate the paths towards a possible creation of SAF at the club. Thus, the leader throws all the spotlight on his competitor, Rodrigo Dunshee, who has Landim as an ally.
LANDIM IS IN FAVOR OF SAFRodolfo Landim, current president of Flamengo, He has already made it clear several times that he is in favor of the SAF at the club. However, the general and legal vice-president and candidate to be his successor in management, Rodrigo Dunshee, is against the implementation of the administrative model. However, the director has not yet signed the amendment.
PROPOSAL PROTOCOLATIONAlso according to the Mundo Rubro-Negro portal, the suggestion to change the club's statute will be filed this coming Tuesday -Friday (2). As far as we know, so far more than 200 partners have signed the amendment that makes it difficult to create a SAF at Mais Querido.
In addition to Bap, another candidate for the position of president of Flamengo, Maurício Gomes de Mattos , also signed the proposal. The former vice president of embassies and consulates is one of the members of the December election who took a stand against the SAF.

In a short season at Maracanãzinho, the Disney On Ice ice skating show enchanted children from social projects and their guardians, who had the opportunity to enjoy classic figures such as Mickey, Minnie, Cinderella and other fascinating characters from children's stories in the last weekend. With the support of Flamengo, through its Social Responsibility Department, 100 tickets were distributed to partner social institutions. Cultural and artistic activities are fundamental for personal development, cultural enrichment and inclusion. Actions like this encourage children to explore their creative potential, broaden their cultural horizons and build a more promising future for themselves and their communities.
In addition to teachers and students from some of the Nuclei of Jogaremos Juntos, a social project of Flamengo, which uses sport as a tool for social transformation, the action also included those assisted by the organizations Espaço Recriando, from Anil, and Em Ação, from Complexo do Alemão.
“Today is a special day for the our students. Watching a show like this gives children a very important cultural moment”, said Ana Carolina Pereira, coordinator of Espaço Recriando. “Everyone loved it and was impressed with everything they saw. We are sure that it was engraved in the minds and hearts of each one of them”, added Allan Chaves de Souza, professor at Em Ação.
