Flamengo is facing a high number of injuries in 2025, a problem that had already affected the team last year. With only three months of the season, the club already has 11 players in the medical department, even before the start of the Brasileirão and Libertadores . Despite the recent history, defender Léo Ortiz downplayed the concern about injuries during the Cariocão ceremony, held last Thursday (19).
For the defender, many of the players who were injured again in 2025 had already suffered similar problems in the previous season, making it common for muscle injuries to occur during the recovery process.
ORTIZ EXPLAINS CONTEXT OF INJURIES
The player cited examples of athletes who went through difficult situations and had difficulties when returning to the field. "We have to put some injuries into context. We had many players returning from surgeries, like Arrascaeta, who missed the end of the season after the Copa do Brasil. Cebola too, who returned from a difficult Achilles tendon surgery. So, it's normal for there to be one or two muscle injuries during the readaptation process ," he explained.
The defender stressed that this type of problem is part of the recovery process and should not be treated as a major obstacle. "I think everything was under control, it was something that could happen. In some cases, it doesn't happen, but it is very normal when you return from a complicated injury, from a long time ago, to have these mini injuries that are due to adaptation to the sequence of games", highlighted Ortiz.
INJURIES HINDERED THE MOST LOVED IN 2024
Despite downplaying the current situation, Ortiz acknowledged that physical problems have compromised CRF's campaign in 2024. Despite winning the Copa do Brasil title, the team was unable to remain in the competition for other competitions due to the high number of absences in the squad. "Of course, Flamengo provides all the logistics for us, not only collective preparation, but also individual preparation for each one, whether at the club or at home. We hope that we can minimize these injuries, this hindered us a bit last year and will be essential for us to fight on all fronts this year," he highlighted.
The 21-year-old midfielder's transfer has been blocked by Mais Querido due to mandatory clauses and financial guarantees required by the BAP president.

With no place at Flamengo, 21-year-old midfielder Victor Hugo 's negotiations with Santos have stalled. The Mais Querido released the standout player from the two-time U-20 Libertadores championship to Portuguese football, maintaining half of the athlete's economic rights.

The contract stipulates specific conditions: if Lorran plays in half of Pisa's matches and the team remains in the Italian top flight, the player's purchase will be mandatory. If all criteria are met , the European club will pay €4 million (approximately R$25 million) to acquire 50% of the player's economic rights , while Flamengo will retain the other half.
