Amidst the controversy over holding the Copa América on Brazilian soil, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) opted to maintain the regular national calendar. The decision raised questions about the feasibility of reconciling national commitments with continental competition. Rodrigo Caetano, the entity's football director, offered clarifications on the reasons behind this choice.
"Until recently I was at a club, and when we are at a club we by nature have a vision, sometimes even aimed at benefit of the club, which is natural and legitimate. But there is the ideal and the possible", stated Caetano, addressing his perspective while previously linked to clubs.

The director highlighted the limitations faced by the CBF in relation to the game calendar, mentioning the scarcity of dates available to accommodate all competitions. "So, from what I heard, I even made contact before being here and knowing, we have an absurd limitation with dates", highlighted Caetano.
He explained that the annual calendar is structured giving priority to FIFA dates , followed by Conmebol's commitments and, finally, the dates for the national championships. "There has already been a request, everyone knows how the annual calendar is put together. Priority for FIFA Date, then Conmebol and then national dates. There are days left to contemplate all this. With the absolute certainty that everything that can be done, our director of competitions will do - and does", explained the director of football.
In view of these considerations, CBF maintained its position of following the commitments of the national calendar, seeking to optimize as much as possible the distribution of dates available for the different competitions. This decision, however, continues to generate debate among those involved in the sporting scene, with voices both in favor and against the continuation of the games during the Copa América.

Flamengo enjoyed a memorable night, thrashing Vitória 8-0 , but the match also held a special chapter for Pedro. Scoring three goals in the match, the striker reached the 100-goal mark at Maracanã, cementing his position as the ninth-highest scorer in the history of the Rio de Janeiro club . Still on the field, shortly after the final whistle, Pedro expressed emotion as he commented on the historic feat.
In a heartfelt statement, the number 9 recalled his career and the weight of achieving such impressive numbers. "Today, the House of the Unforgettable will be unforgettable for me. The day I scored 100 goals at Maracanã will be etched in my memory forever. As a child, as a fan, I never imagined I'd be able to fulfill this dream of playing here, scoring goals for my favorite team," said the striker.
Pedro 's season was also marked by challenges. At one point, he was even relegated to the starting lineup by Filipe Luís, following criticism of his dedication in training. Furthermore, rumors of a possible departure from the club heightened tensions during the period.
Despite the difficulties, the striker emphasized that each phase strengthened him and credited his success to faith. " I believe that everything that happens in my life has a purpose, and I can only thank God for each phase, each stage I face, each challenge I overcome. This serves to mature me and grow even more. I return the honor and glory to Jesus, because he is the one who sustains me," Pedro stated.
After the rout and Pedro's historic mark, Rubro-Negro is preparing to face Grêmio next Sunday (31), at 4 pm (Brasília time), again at Maracanã. The team remains firm in the fight for the leadership of the Brazilian Championship.
