Manuela Maia is the newest champion of the U-15 School World Judo Games. The Flamengo athlete beat her opponent this Sunday (27) in competition in Rio de Janeiro. She had already won a gold medal at the Pan American, representing Brazil.

The judo competition took place from the 19th to the 27th of August. In Gymnasiade 2023, which is the name of the world tournament for young students, youngsters from 46 different countries competed. It was a total of 1,400 competitors. This is considered the largest student-athlete event in the world.


The Brazilian delegation had 404 members and 71 were from the state of Rio de Janeiro alone. Manuela competed in the Under-15 category of the competition during this week. All of the fights she did were on devices used in the 2016 Olympic Games, as well as all of the tournament's activities.


The athlete has been competing for the red-black for some time. Last year she was on the women's team that became U-15 state champions. Also in 2022 she participated in the Pan American Championship, representing the Brazilian delegation. The national team was the most victorious of the tournament, with a total of 47 medals. Manuela collaborated on the occasion with one of the gold medals.

Flamengo athlete, Rebeca Andrade revealed what her priorities will be in the coming days: vacation, with a focus on mental and physical health. At an event held this past Friday (27), in São Paulo, the gymnast spoke about the beginning of her cycle for the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

During the COB Expo, Rebeca Andrade highlighted that she is still determined not to compete on the floor, a device on which she is the current Olympic champion. She also reveals that she is tired and feels a lot of pain.

"At the moment, I don't want to. Maybe because I'm still very tired, I feel a lot of pain. Only time will tell. But if it's my choice … I still have four years to train, I can do just two sets in two years, and then, maybe, if I need to do it, I'll do the solo. I hope I don't have to, I hope other super talented girls come along and do a lot. well. But if they need it, if in my head and in my body I can do it, I'll do it, but I hope I don't have to", said Rebeca Andrade.

BRAZIL'S BIGGEST OLYMPIC MEDALIST< Rebeca Andrade shone in yet another Olympics and became Brazil's greatest Olympic medalist. The Mais Querido gymnast won a gold, a silver and a bronze at the Paris Games.


Now, at 25, Rebeca has two golds, three silvers and a bronze in her Olympic career, which still has one more chapter planned for Los Angeles 2028.

This last Friday (27), Maurício Gomes de Mattos and Wallim Vasconcelos registered their respective tickets and are confirmed in Flamengo's presidential race. However, Rodrigo Dunshee postponed the official launch. A vice-president has already asked to leave Mais Querido due to the election.

According to information from the Coluna do Fla portal, Maurício Gomes registered at the Flamengo council secretariat alongside some supporters. Wallim Vasconcelos appeared at the Gávea headquarters accompanied by Bruno Cotecchia, candidate for vice general.


Supported by Rodolfo Landim, Rodrigo Dunshee informed that the launch of his ticket has been postponed. The event that was scheduled for next Monday (30th) was moved to October 14th. However, the registration procedures for the dispute remain confirmed for Monday (30), the last day allowed for confirmation.


VP REQUESTS

Alexandre Pinto, vice president of Information Technology, asked to leave his position. On his social networks, the then director wrote: “last Wednesday (25), I officially announced my resignation from the IT Vice-Presidency of Mais Querido do Brasil, with the certainty that a true legacy was left”

ELECTIONS IN FLAMENGO


In addition to Wallim Vasconcelos, Rodrigo Dunshee and Maurício Gomes de Mattos, Eduardo Baptista, BAP, Pedro Paulo and Delair Dumbrosck also announced that they will participate in the Flamengo elections. Voting is scheduled for December 9th, a Monday.

Brazil made history this Saturday (3) by beating Italy 4-3 in the team judo competition, securing the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This is the first time that the country has reached the podium in this category.

In the first fight of the final, Rafael Macedo, competing in the men's under-90kg category, applied an Ippon to the Italian Christian Parlati with 14 seconds to go, putting Brazil at an advantage.


Afterwards, Beatriz Souza, champion in the women's under-78kg category, confirmed her favoritism by defeating Asya Tavano with a pin, extending the Brazilian lead.


A Italy responded in the third clash with Gennaro Pirelli, who beat Leonardo Gonçalves in the men's under-90kg category with a Waza-ari on the golden score, reducing the difference.

Rafaela Silva, from Flamengo, competing in the women's under-57kg category, brought peace of mind to Brazil by beating Veronica Toniolo with a Waza-ari followed by a pin, bringing the score to 3-1 .



BRAZILIAN JUDO PERFORMANCE

With this medal, Brazilian judo ends its participation in the Olympics Paris 2024 with a total of four medals. Previously, Beatriz Souza had won gold, Willian Lima took silver and Larissa Pimenta secured bronze. This campaign represents the best performance of Brazilian judo in the Olympic Games.
