Evertton Araújo came on at right-back in the final stretch of Flamengo's debut in the Libertadores, last Tuesday (02), against Millonarios (COL). Originally a midfielder, the 21-year-old started training in the new position at the request of the technical committee and now becomes an option for the starter Varela.

According to the Coluna do Fla report, Tite began to adapting the steering wheel on the right flank shortly after Wesley's first injury of the year, at the beginning of March, before the game against Madureira. Therefore, the technical committee moved Evertton Araújo to the right side of the defense.

During Carioca's knockout stage, Evertton Araújo established himself in Flamengo's training as a right back, especially after Wesley's second injury. in the middle of the state playoff. This is because assistant coach César Sampaio liked the playing style of the original defensive midfielder and saw the boy as an option for Varela, mainly due to his different characteristics.

CHARACTERISTICS OF EVERTTON ARAÚJO

Evertton Araújo is seen internally as a player with good physical size for defense. As a creative midfielder, the athlete has a sense of centralized play, which pleases Tite. It is worth remembering that the coach started using Varela as a full-back on the inside, precisely with the aim of opening up space for the right winger to have more freedom on the field.

Although he is seen as stronger than Varela and Wesley on the right flank, the lack of experience in the professional team is worked on. Therefore, Tite's technical committee remains cautious when launching Evertton Araújo into the main team.

DEBUT PERFORMANCE IN THE LIBERTADORES

Evertton Araújo started the game of Flamengo against Millonarios as a substitute. However, the boy replaced Uruguayan Guillermo Varela in the 41st minute of the second half, when the duel was already tied at 1-1.

The former midfielder and now right back played the first game of his career in Libertadores. On the field for around ten minutes, the number 52 made eight touches of the ball and timidly participated in the clash that was already heading towards the end. However, the short time on the pitch made it clear that Tite sees the player as an adapted option on the right side of Flamengo's defense.

EVERTTON ARAÚJO WAS IN THE SIGHTS OF AMÉRICA-MG

At the beginning of March, Coluna do Fla learned that América-MG tried to sign Evertton Araújo on loan until the end of the year. However, Tite's technical committee blocked the transfer. This is because the coach sees potential in the 21-year-old player at Flamengo. It is worth noting that Flamengo has 70% of the athlete's economic rights and Volta Redonda holds the other 30%.

After taking charge of Flamengo, Tite, former coach of the Brazilian national team, made it clear that he is quickly adapting to the club's culture. In recent statements, he highlighted Rubro-Negro's striking characteristic: the incessant search for all possible titles. According to the coach, this spirit of intense competition is something that he not only admires, but is also incorporating into his own work philosophy.

Tite, known for his meticulous and results-focused work, revealed that the Transition to Flamengo involves constant learning, especially in relation to the club's winning mentality. "Flamengo has this culture of fighting for every title. There is no focus on just one competition, the goal is to win everything within reach", he explained.

THE COACH WANTS A COMPETITIVE STYLE

This characteristic is notable in Flamengoin recent years, which has won several important competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship and the Copa Libertadores. Tite, accustomed to pressure and the need for results, states that this mentality is something he is adopting in his day-to-day life at the club. “I see this culture, and this is what we are doing. Flamengo has this requirement, and I am a coach who likes this type of challenge.”

Although Tite has an established career, with successful spells at clubs such as Corinthians and the Brazilian national team, Flamengo represents a new experience for the coach. He is now at the helm of a team that has traditionally had fans calling for victories in every competition they compete in, something he sees as a positive challenge.

"You have to learn every day Even with the experience I have, here I realize that there are very high expectations, but at the same time that's what makes you grow", commented the coach. For him, working at a club that maintains such a high level of demand motivates him to always seek the best.

The Flamengocould face another challenge for the clash against Peñarol, scheduled for Thursday. Luiz Araújo, one of the team's key players, suffered a problem during the last game and may not be available for the match. During the first half of the last match, Luiz Araújo felt pain in his right knee. The discomfort was enough for the coach to opt for his substitution after 15 minutes. The decision to take him off the field was made quickly, in an attempt to avoid worsening the possible injury.

Now, Flamengo's medical department is carrying out a detailed assessment to determine the extent of the problem. Analysis of Luiz Araújo's knee is crucial to understand whether he suffered a significant injury or whether the problem is simpler and can be treated quickly. Flamengo is already facing challenges with the squad for the next game and the possible absence of Luiz Araújo adds a new layer of concern. The player's participation on Thursday is still uncertain and will depend on the results of the medical examinations.
