Forward Gabigol is experiencing his worst year since arriving at Flamengo in 2019. The player has only 20 goals this season and was a substitute in Rubro Negro's last three games. This phase made Fábio Sormani, ex - ESPN, speak out on his social networks and make a request to the Santos board.
The journalist suggests that Santos sell the young promise, Marcos Leonardo and sign Gabigol. Furthermore, Sormani asked the Santos team to still try to convince striker Bruno Henrique, as the player's contract ends in December.
”I say: it's time for Santos (with the money from the sale of Marcos Leonardo) go to Gávea and bring our boy (Gabigol) to the village. And talk to Bruno Henrique so he can come back. There are two cubs of the Fish. Their place is here”, said Sormani on his Twitter account (X).
Even though he is going through a terrible moment, Gabigol can now say that he is one of the greatest in Flamengo's history. In total, until August 30, 2023, there are 256 games, 153 goals, 43 assists and 11 titles won, including two Libertadores, with him being the protagonist, two Brazilians and one Copa do Brasil.
The player arrived at Rubro Negro on loan in 2019 from Inter Milan, from Italy. But due to his high performance this season, he was permanently bought by Flamengo on a five-year contract. Previously, he also played for Santos and Benfica (POR).
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.
Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
