Flamengo was trying to sign midfielder Maycon, a player who belongs to Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR) and is on loan to Corinthians. Club and player already had an agreement for the red and black team to move forward in negotiations, however, the player went back and decided to refuse the offer from the cariocas. The coach, Antônio, from Timão, made a little provocation with Mengão, this Wednesday (06), during training. Check out the video of the moment:

The decision to remain at Corinthians was based on three factors. The first is the fight over the position, he would arrive to compete for the title. However, the midfielder is having a good time with the team and has scored two goals and two assists in the season so far.

Another decisive factor that made him stay was hearing from the Corinthians board that they would pay off the million-dollar debt. After all, it's been 11 months without receiving image rights. The midfielder has great affection for the club and preferred to find a friendly agreement to receive the late fee.

Finally, Maycon's family asked that the midfielder not change city at this time, as they are already adapted in the state of São Paulo. The latter was a special request from his wife and children.

Flamengo had sent the proposal to the Ukrainians, the offer was 6 million euros (around R$32 million), in a contract valid for 4 seasons. Maycon would arrive to compete for position with Erick Pulgar, Gerson, Allan, Igor Jesus, in addition to De La Cruz who also works in the sector.

Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.
