On ESPN's "Sportscenter" program, the former head of refereeing at the CBF, Leonardo Gaciba, addressed the controversial expulsion of Gabi and Nino in the Fla-Flu classic. Gaciba immediately raised the possibility that the referee had been targeted of swearing by players. It is worth mentioning that this consideration was made before the release of the match summary, which does not mention any type of offense.

"I am not in the vicinity to confirm whether there were verbal offenses. After this episode, it appears what we call generalized turmoil. All the players end up involved in arguments. I don't know the content of the report that Wilton will give in the summary, but it is clear that Gabriel questioned the reason for his expulsion to the referee. From the images we are observing, without the auditory resource , I do not identify any attitude that could result in a red card.

Only Nino seems to have committed something that would justify his expulsion in this context", he declared, adding:"If Gabriel had argued with Nino and the referee had witnessed both exchanging insults, , this, in fact, would justify the expulsion. Just swearing at the referee is not a reason for expulsion. If the players exchange insults, use inappropriate language and there is a disagreement between them, this constitutes a reason for the imposition of a red card.

I don't know if Wilton was able to capture those words", he stated. Gaciba went on to clarify that the VAR would not have the authority to intervene in the play if the expulsions were the result of verbal offenses. "It is important to point out that the referee of Video doesn't have access to audio, right? If the VAR informs that he sent off a certain player because he said insulting words, the video referee cannot intervene.

The field's decision prevails, it is the outcome. However, if Wilton had not sent off any player and the VAR captured the image of Nino grabbing Gabriel by the neck, then it would be possible to call a review so that the referee can assess whether this action would justify the application of the red card", he concluded. Gaciba also added , explaining that the VAR could not intervene in the play if the expulsions had been carried out due to an offense

Last Wednesday (18), representatives from Flamengo and Caixa Econômica Federal held another meeting to resolve the impasse surrounding the Gasologista land, acquired by the club in July. The meeting had the support of Rio de Janeiro City Hall and the Attorney General's Office (AGU), and a new meeting scheduled for next week, in Brasília, could seal the definitive agreement. The information was released by journalist Diogo Dantas, from the newspaper "O Globo".

Mengão's board of directors, represented by president Rodolfo Landim, vice-general Rodrigo Dunshee, CEO Reinaldo Belotti and vice-president of equity Marcos Bodin, was optimistic about the possibility of a solution soon. Caixa questions the amount paid by the club at the land auction, but everything indicates that an additional amount could resolve the legal conflict by next month.

INVOLVEMENT OF THE CITY OF RIO

The meeting was also attended by deputy Pedro Paulo and the club's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, who have acted as intermediaries between the club and the mayor from Rio, Eduardo Paes. In August, a meeting involving the bank's president, Carlos Vieira, president Lula and mayor Eduardo Paes had already signaled the path to an agreement.

IMPORTANCE OF THE AGREEMENT FOR FLAMENGO

Mais Querido's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, highlighted that the agreement is the ideal way to give peace of mind to the club. "For the club, a good agreement is always better than an eternal discussion about values. The land has already been expropriated. The agreement is ideal to eliminate any doubts and for Flamengo to have the necessary peace of mind to begin the work", said Cotta.

Carlos Alcaraz had an intense debut for Flamengo. This is because the midfielder was sent off this Sunday afternoon (1), in a game against Corinthians, in the Brasileirão. The Argentine only played 45 minutes.

During the second half, Charly had little participation due to the game played between Flamengo and Corinthians. Thus, the midfielder had three defensive actions, won a duel and completed 79% of his passes on the field. Furthermore, the player also participated in the confusion and was sent off, along with defender Cacá.

MILLIONAIRE VALUE PURCHASE

Flamengo bought Carlos Alcaraz for astronomical values next to Southampton. Mais Querido paid the English club 17.6 million euros (R108.3 million). The acquisition of the Argentine surpassed that of Pedro, bought from Fiorentina (ITA).

FLAMENGO'S SITUATION IN BRAZILIAN

In addition to seeing its biggest signing being expelled on their debut, Flamengo also saw Corinthians celebrate. This is because Mais Querido was defeated by the score of 2-1 to the team from São Paulo, at the Neo Química Arena.

With the defeat, Flamengo distanced itself from the fight for the Brasileirão title, remaining stagnant in the 44 points, six less than the leader Botafogo. Furthermore, Rubro-Negro took Itaquera's team out of the relegation zone.
