Flamengo and Botafogo faced each other this Sunday (18), in a game valid for the ninth round of the Brasileirão. However, the rivalry did not stay only on the field, as members of the organized groups of both teams were arrested by the Military Police around Maracanã, after a disturbance.
According to information from UOL, 102 people were arrested by the Military Police on Sunday night (18). In addition to homemade bombs, brass knuckles, fireworks, mouth guards, clubs, ninja hoods, stones, among other items, were seized from them.
The confusion began on Arthur Menezes Street and São Francisco Xavier Street, near the entrance to the South Sector. According to the PM, some Botafogo fans were restrained on Eurico Rabelo Street, which gives access to Maracanã.
It is worth remembering that the game between Flamengo and Botafogo was stopped 17 minutes into the second half after the security forces used pepper spray. The athletes felt uncomfortable and the chemical product was also noticed by journalists and fans.
Flamengo and Botafogo were held to a 0-0 draw in a hard-fought match. The teams had few dangerous chances during the match, and were unable to score a shot on goal.
