Police arrest 10 people in clash between Flamengo and Vasco fans

Clashes took place in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro before the classic for the Brazilian Championship

On Sunday morning (15), the police detained 10 people involved in clashes between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama fans. The incident occurred in the Tanque neighborhood, located in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, hours before the derby between the two teams, valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship.

According to information from the 18th Police Battalion Military (Jacarepaguá), authorities were called after reports of a big fight between rival fans. Upon arriving at the scene, the agents tried to contain the disturbance and arrested those involved.

INJURED TAKEN TO UPA

During the confrontation, two people were injured and were taken to the Taquara Emergency Care Unit (UPA). To date, the identities and health status of the injured have not been disclosed by the competent authorities.

INCREASED POLICE OPERATIONS

In response to the growing tension before the match, the Prime Minister announced the reinforcement of police operations throughout the region, with the aim of preventing further incidents among fans. The classic between Mengão and Vasco is scheduled for 6:30 pm, at Maracanã, with high expectations and an atmosphere of fierce rivalry on and off the field.

Lineup: With changes, Flamengo announces the starters who will face Peñarol at Maracanã

The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region.
