Flamengo recalculates routes in the ball market and, if on one side, he got Michael's return right and tries to leave the more robust squad amid the casualties, saw sales opportunities not materialize in this window which, together, would total more than R$ 180 million to the red and black coffers.

Atalanta, for example, gave up on the full-back Wesley right after an impasse in negotiations. Rubro-Negro claims that there was uncertainty regarding the date of the player's trip to Italy and that the Italian club then unofficially informed that it was withdrawing from the negotiation. Flamengo's executive director, Bruno Spindel said that the Gávea association "is not a floodplain".

The deal involved 16 million euros (around R$96 million) for the 90% of the player who belongs to Fla. The deal could reach something around 20 million euros (around R$120 million) if bonuses were achieved.

Another case was the proposal from West Ham (ING) by defender Fabrício Bruno. Flamengo even accepted the offer, but the player refused.

The English signed with 15 million euros (around R$ 84 million at the time), also for 90 % that the club has of the defender, but the defender was not encouraged by the salary offer and preferred to remain at Rubro-Negro.

Fabrício Bruno, however, arouses the interest of Rennes (FRA) and could still be negotiated. Fla's football vice-president, Marcos Braz, however, "needled" the defender after the 4-1 defeat to Botafogo, saying that he had the opportunity to go to England and didn't go.

Still far from the sales budget for 2024

Flamengo has a forecast of R$114 million in sales in the current season. The value was estimated in the budget published on the club's official website.

So far, around R$59 million has been sold. The amount refers to the farewells to Thiago Maia (Internacional), for R$ 23.8 million; Santos (Fortaleza), for R$4.8 million; Matheuzinho (Corinthians), for R$21.8 million; and André Luiz (Estrela da Amadora), for R$2.7 million. These were the values already disclosed in the balance sheet. Werton completes the sale list of R$ 5.8 million that has not yet been released in this balance sheet.

Why save now? Tite's choices raise questions from Flamengo fans

The club has its main problems stipulated

The decision of Tite sparing the cast entirely raises some questions. On the one hand, it preserves players for more important commitments and minimizes the risk of injuries at a time when physical exhaustion can be a serious problem. On the other hand, placing an alternative team in a Brazilian Championship match, which is still in dispute, can be seen as risky, as a defeat or even a draw could have consequences on the table.

In addition , the choice of David Luiz and Cleiton in defense and Allan and Everton Araújo in midfield suggests that Tite trusts in the depth of his squad. He seems to believe that, even with the changes, the team will be able to compete at a high level. This also gives reserve players a chance to show their value, which could be crucial for the squad's dynamics in the coming weeks.

FLAMENGO HAS ITS TOUGH TIME

Another relevant point of this strategy is the issue of integration. A team that doesn't usually play together may have difficulty adapting to the demands of a high-level match, especially against opponents who are playing for real and with their starting team. The lack of rhythm among players can be a challenge to be faced, but it is also an opportunity for these athletes to gain experience and adapt more quickly to the demands of elite football.

Tite, known for being A meticulous strategist, he must have considered these factors when choosing to rotate the squad at this point in the championship. The choices reflect a balance between the physical preservation of the main players and the need to keep the team competitive throughout the season. The expectation is that this decision, even if bold, will not compromise the team's performance in the championship.

This Sunday's clash will be an important test of the depth of the squad and the ability of reserve players to take on responsibilities at crucial moments. Cleiton, for example, will have the chance to show that he can be a reliable option for the defense in the future, and Allan and Everton Araújo will have the task of controlling the midfield and dictating the pace of the game.
