Jorge Sampaoli's departure from Flamengo, five months after his hiring, was yet another case that increased the number of coaches who left their positions after just a few months of work. While there is still no agreement with Tite, the team is coached by Mário Jorge, under-20 coach, and the last other commanders continue their careers in other places and positions. See where they are.

Vitor Pereira

Recently fired, Sampaoli still doesn't have a new destination after leaving Flamengo. But the previous commander, Portuguese Vitor Pereira, is back on active duty. Since leaving the red-black team in April, the coach has taken advantage of the period to spend time with his family in his home country. But Spanish press sources already say that the next job will begin soon, taking over Almería-ESP. The team is bottom of La Liga, with just three points in eight rounds — it has accumulated three draws and five defeats at the start of the championship.

< b>Dorival Júnior

Fired at the end of the 2022 season, after the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores titles, Dorival was another coach who preferred to take a sabbatical before starting work on another club. He left Flamengo in November and took over São Paulo in April — after Vitor Pereira had already been fired. In six months in charge of the São Paulo tricolor, he was champion of the Copa do Brasil, precisely over the red-black team. In the Brasileirão, the team occupies 10th place in the table, and reached the quarter-finals of the South American Championship, losing the place on penalties to LDU.

Paulo Sousa< /p>

Portuguese Paulo Sousa spent just four months at Flamengo, taking over from the beginning of Carioca and staying until the 10th round of the Brasileirão. With insignificant results, he was fired after four months, and, like the other technicians, he also took a period off after working in the red and black. In February this year, he took over Salernitana-ITA, and finished in 15th place in Serie A. He remains in the team for the 2023/24 season.

Renato Gaúcho

The runner-up finish in the 2021 Libertadores final was Renato Gaúcho's last commitment at Flamengo. He only went back to work in September 2022, starting his fourth job at Grêmio, 10 rounds before the end of Series B. Renato took over the team in third place and finished runner-up. This year, he won the Recopa Gaúcha, the Campeonato Gaúcho and led the team to the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, when they were eliminated by Jorge Sampaoli's Flamengo. In the Brazilian Championship, he is in third place and is one of the "hunters" of the leader Botafogo.

Rogério Ceni

Rogério Ceni was one of the only coaches who lasted more than six months in office and ended his tenure with impressive titles. He took over the red-black team in October 2020 and left in July 2021, and has on his resume the achievements of the Brasileirão, the Supercup and the Campeonato Carioca. After three months out, he returned to São Paulo and stayed in the position from October 2021 to March 2023, but was fired after the first round of the Brazilian Championship. He took over Bahia three weeks ago, after the fall of Renato Paiva, and so far has one win and two defeats in the Brasileirão.

Domènec Torrent

Spaniard Domènec Torrent was chosen for the difficult mission of taking over Flamengo after the departure of multi-champion Jorge Jesus. The result was not positive: he only spent three months in the position, in one of his first experiences as a head coach — in Europe, he spent time at big clubs, but in the role of assistant coach. He stayed from August to October 2020, and only started playing again more than a year later, in January 2022. Dome only stayed at Galatasaray for four months, leaving in June 2022, and is currently without a club.

Jorge Jesus

The "mister", who to this day is still being speculated about in the red and black, had a spell at Flamengo that ended with more titles than defeats. But his subsequent work was not so successful: he finished two seasons with Benfica, between 2020/21 and 2021/22, without titles. He then went to Fenerbahçe, where he won the Turkish Cup, but left the team under criticism from the fans. Since July, he has been at Al Hilal, and reached the final of the Arab Cup, but lost to Al-Nassr 2-1, and today the team is at the top of the Saudi Championship.

Abel Braga

The first coach chosen by Rodolfo Landim for the position, in 2019, Abel Braga spent four months at Flamengo, from January to May, marked by controversies. The coach resigned from his position, waiving the termination fine, after disagreements with the club's directors, in a short spell, which ended with the Florida Cup and Carioca titles. After leaving Flamengo, he played for Vasco, Cruzeiro, Internacional, and Lugano, in Switzerland, before retiring at Fluminense in 2022. That year, he won the Campeonato Carioca — over Flamengo — and in December, he took on the role of technical director of Vasco.

Fiorentina striker Lucas Beltrán has begun to reconsider the possibility of playing for Flamengo. Initially, the 24-year-old Argentine showed no interest in returning to South American football, focusing on continuing his career in Europe. However, with the agreement reached between the clubs, the player is now considering the chance to wear the Sacred Mantle with new eyes .

According to Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Beltrán is now analyzing the Rio de Janeiro club's offer more closely. Flamengo , for its part, has already agreed on terms with Fiorentina: a fixed fee of €12 million, plus €3 million for targets to be met, totaling a €15 million deal—approximately R$95 million at the current exchange rate.

FLAMENGO MEETS WITH LUCAS

With the deal agreed upon between the clubs, Rubro-Negro is now trying to convince the player to accept the transfer . According to the newspaper O Dia, a meeting is scheduled with the player's representatives in the coming days. The expectation is that the sports project will be enough to sway Beltrán and secure his arrival in Rio.

In the presented project, the club highlights its sporting prominence, international visibility, recent titles, and the competitiveness of its squad. Mengão 's strong performance in the market, having recently signed players like Samuel Lino, Emerson Royal, and Saúl Ñíguez, is one of the assets used to demonstrate that Brazilian football is attracting talent that previously prioritized the European continent.

PLAYING FOR FLAMENGO CAN BE THE WAY

The possibility of competing for major titles and playing for a club with a massive fan base and sporting ambition weighs heavily in favor of the striker's decision. Currently at Fiorentina, a mid-sized team in Italy, Beltrán isn't enjoying a moment of prominence . At Flamengo, he would have a place in one of the strongest teams in South America, which offers top-notch infrastructure and constant competition for national and continental titles.
