Only six days left until the deadline for the Corinthians exercise the option purchase of goalkeeper Hugo Souza, who belongs to Flamengo and is on loan to the São Paulo club. The board indicated “first-class banks”, seeking to have more security in receiving payment of the 800 thousand euros (around R$ 4.8 million) provided for in the contract.
The last Corinthians offer would have been a letter of credit from a financial institution that was not on the list presented by Flamengo, which made Rubro-Negro deny the guarantee. With Mengão's second refusal, Corinthians seeks to make payment in cash. The deadline for the São Paulo team to exercise the purchase option is November 30th.

By debt owed by the team's former defender, Balbuena, Corinthians suffered from a transfer ban imposed by FIFA. The club is prevented from making new signings for the next three transfer windows.
