Durcésio Mello, president of Botafogo, mocked the recent demand by Flamengo and other Brazilian clubs for financial fair play regulation. According to the black and white president, Flamengo has no reason to complain, especially after the high-impact signings made in the last transfer window.

“That's from the guys from Gávea. They're joking... Are they going to talk about financial fair play? Ten years ago, 15 years ago, Flamengo earned R$100 million more per year than Botafogo, than Fluminense, Cruzeiro, Atlético-MG… If you put that in the timeline it comes to R$1.5 billion alone in broadcasting rights, and now they’re talking about financial fair play?”, said the director.

“The funniest thing is that they talk right after the 4-1 defeat. And even funnier, right after then they bring in Alex Sandro for R$1.8 million in salary, Michael earning R$2 million… What financial fair play?”, concluded Durcésio Mello in an interview with 'Panorama Glorioso'.

FLAMENGO WITH REVENUES OVER R$1 BILLION

It is worth remembering that Flamengo grossed more than R$1 billion in the last two seasons. This allows the club to make significant signings, given the high revenue it maintains. The expectation is that Rubro-Negro will once again surpass the R$ 1 billion mark by the end of 2024.

MEETING ON FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY

Last Monday (02) , a meeting organized by the National Club Commission took place, with the participation of Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Vasco, Fluminense, Internacional, Fortaleza and Atlético-GO. The clubs began to discuss the implementation of financial fair play for the 2025 Brasileirão, with the intention of expanding the debate to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

Check it out:

This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.

Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.

However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.

FELIPE MOTTA SAYS GOODBYE TO FLAMENGO

On his social networks, Felipe Motta thanked Mais Querido and sent a message to the Nation: “Thank you Flamengo. It was an honor to be part of and play for the red and black nation.”

It is expected that Felipe will have more minutes at Botafogo and can establish himself among the elite of Brazilian basketball. The new NBB 2024/25 season will start in the second week of October, and Mais Querido will face Vasco in the first round.
