PRESIDENT OF FLAMENGO COMMENTS DEADLINE TO CONCLUDE NEGOTIATIONS ON THE CLUB'S STADIUM

President of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim was present at the CBF headquarters to watch the draw for the Copa do Brasil, this Wednesday (17), and was asked about the Mengão's own stadium. To the fan's sadness, the agent stated that there had been no progress in recent days, reinforced that the long process is natural and did not confirm the deadline that was speculated.

Landim would like to at least complete the acquisition of land for construction until the end of his second term, which ends in December this year and will mark the president's departure for at least three years. However, he gave the impression of a certain pessimism about the deadline and stated that the most important thing is for the project to continue evolving in a structured way.

“This is a long process, it involves a series of decisions, a series of actors involved in this process. If it resolves, that's great. Let it be resolved. If not, at least keep moving, keep evolving. The most important thing is to work out in the end”, began Rodolfo Landim.

The red-black president stated that there is no new information other than what has been published in the media in recent days. In other words, Rubro-Negro is still focused on the land of the old Gasometer, in the Port Zone of Rio, and is studying ways to structure a financial and construction project to present to the directors of Caixa Econômica Federal, which manages the fund that owns the site.

“Nothing new that you haven’t commented on over the last few days. We have continued to carry out studies, we have sought out authorities, we are discussing some things that could bring benefits to Flamengo that help to implement this important, strategic project for the club. It’s about continuing”, added the Flamengo president.

The club has the support of the current Rio de Janeiro City Council and awaits the approval of laws supported by Eduardo Paes in the City Council. The strategy developed by the club is to raise up to R$510 million by exchanging the construction potential (Cepac) of the Gávea headquarters and selling it to the fund.

In addition, according to the MRN portal, the club studied the possibility to build a stadium on the land where the amusement park was located Enchanted Land, in Barra da Tijuca. However, local authorities are not interested and negotiations would be as difficult or more difficult than with Caixa Econômica. And it is worth highlighting that the board has a strong preference for land in the city center.

The Argentine stressed that he keeps his feet on the ground and that his main goal is to continue showing consistency for the Rubro-Negro , who have the best defense in the Brasileirão, conceding only 10 goals in 22 games. At Maracanã, the Mais Querido conceded only three goals.

"I'm in no rush, because my job is for Flamengo , day to day, game to game. My biggest focus is to maintain this streak so that the call-up can come. Of course I have that desire, but I don't treat it as a requirement . I'm Flamengo's goalkeeper, I'm responsible for Flamengo. If the call-up comes, I'll welcome it," he added.
