During the period of approval of the Flamengo Presidency tickets, representatives of the three main candidates will have a significant meeting in court, related to the biggest tragedy in the club's history: the fire at Ninho do Urubu.
The 36th Criminal Court The Rio Court of Justice scheduled the hearing for the trial of those accused of the fire for October 18th. Among the defendants is former president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, one of the main supporters of Maurício Gomes de Mattos' candidacy.
At the hearing, witnesses called by the defendants' defense will be heard. In Bandeira's case, the list includes eight witnesses, including his successor Rodolfo Landim and the legal vice-president of the previous administration, Flávio Willeman.
Landim is the main supporter of Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches' candidacy, while Willeman will run for the position of vice president on the ticket of Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap).
In a previous hearing in May, Bandeira's defense obtained the admission of delegate Márcio Petra that he met with Cacau Cotta, who was later appointed director of External Relations during Landim's administration. It is possible that Landim will be questioned about this appointment at the October 18 hearing.
In addition to Landim and Willeman, Bandeira's list of witnesses includes the former CEO of Flamengo and current CEO of Corinthians, Fred Luz ; the former president of Flamengo, Kléber Leite; the former legal director of Flamengo, Bernardo Accioly; and the former coordinators of the red-black base, José Carlos Freitas Júnior and Marcos Antônio Biasotto, in addition to the former base player Braian Cruz, currently in XV de Jaú.
The original list of Bandeira witnesses presented in 2021 included Luiz Humberto Costa Tavares, the club's administration manager, who had been identified during the investigation as having been aware of problems with the electrical installations before the fire. However, the defense requested the dismissal of Luiz Humberto and the inclusion of Braian Cruz.
At the same hearing, the witnesses of the other seven defendants in the arson case will also be heard: the former directors of Flamengo Márcio Garotti and Marcelo de Sá; the executives of NHJ (the company responsible for installing containers in CT) Danilo Duarte, Fábio Hilário da Silva, Weslley Gimenes and Claudia Pereira da Silva; and refrigeration technician Edson Colman.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm.
