This season, many clubs with huge debts invested heavily to get close to Flamengo and Palmeiras in the competitions they compete in, such as Botafogo and Corinthians. Irritated by the situation, Mais Querido and the alviverde team lead the movement to implement financial fair play in Brazilian football. This Monday (23), Leila Pereira raised her tone and criticized the situation experienced in the Brasileirão.

"I have already spoken several times. I heard that there has already been a study at the CBF, it is ready to implement fair play and there was no progress. I think it's fundamental. It's absurd for clubs that don't pay salaries, don't pay taxes, to continue hiring and do absolutely nothing. If they wait for the clubs to organize themselves, it won't happen. never because the interest of many clubs is to continue like this, they only see winning the next title", said Leila Pereira.

"If the club breaks, there's no problem. have financial fair play, clubs that don't pay on time are prevented from hiring and the president takes personal responsibility for irresponsibility. Only then would Brazilian football be able to do so. Because otherwise they wait for the club to go bankrupt, these SAFs come, they come in, sometimes SAF like that. has so much credibility. It's a shame, because it's a wonderful product", added the president of Palmeiras.

CLUBS MEET TO DEBATE FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY

At the beginning of September, clubs such as Flamengo, São Paulo, Palmeiras, Internacional, Vasco, Fortaleza and Fluminense, as well as teams from the second and third divisions, met to discuss the implementation of financial fair play.

"This issue of fair play, if everything goes well, if I am re-elected president of Palmeiras, it is an issue that I will bring the clubs together to talk about. It's not possible, it's very unfair. Palmeiras pays everything on time. I don't delay a day's salary or the image of my athletes or my collaborators. Since I've been president, I've never been late", highlighted Leila.

"If I don't make any hires, it's because I can't financially afford those hires. How can I compete with a club that doesn't pay players on time, that pays CLT but doesn't pay image, on equal terms? Sometimes a well-organized club stays and another passes because it is irresponsible. It cannot. The CBF has to see this, it has to look at this", asked Leila Pereira.

MEANWHILE...

While the teams don't reach a consensus , Flamengo focuses on the big decision of the Libertadores. Mais Querido takes the field this Thursday (26th), at 7pm, in the return game of the quarter-finals against Peñarol, in Montevideo.

Flamengo said goodbye to the 2025 Club World Cup this Sunday (29), after being defeated 4-2 by Bayern Munich, at the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami. The elimination generated strong repercussions on social media, with fans criticizing the stance of coach Filipe Luís , especially for the delay in making changes to the team.

Fan on social media, "X", about Flamengo's coach: “It's hard to understand some choices."

Rubro-Negro fell behind in the first few minutes and went into the break losing 3-1. Coach Filipe Luís opted to keep the same formation for the second half, which sparked the fans' outrage. On social media, the coach's name was among the most talked about.

Many fans questioned why players like Bruno Henrique and Ayrton Lucas were not called up earlier, especially against a high-level and intense opponent. Among the names most mentioned, Uruguayan midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta was the main target. In an uninspired afternoon, the number 14 had a below-average performance, but was kept on until the final minutes.

NAMES HUNTED IN THE CAST

"It's unbelievable that he brought De Arrascaeta back for the second half," complained one fan. "It's hard to understand some of Filipe Luís's choices," commented another. The coach's insistence on not making any changes during the break caused general surprise, even among journalists and performance analysts. Another point of note was Bruno Henrique's lack of minutes.

FLAMENGO SEE ERRORS AT DIFFERENT MOMENTS

The striker, known for his speed and ability to change the pace of the game, only came on in the final moments, when Flamengo had little room to react. "I don't understand why Filipe Luís always insists on bringing Bruno Henrique on at the end of the second half," complained a Flamengo fan on X (formerly Twitter). The fans understand that, even at 34 years old, Bruno is still decisive in big games, especially when there is space in the offensive transitions.

Felipe Melo, a commentator for SporTV, analyzed Flamengo's elimination against Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup with a critical eye on the team's strategy. For him, the Rubro-Negro repeated old mistakes by insisting on short passes, even against a team that presses intensely.

Felipe Melo opens up about the elimination of Mais Querido: “Flamengo made a mistake."

According to him, even when facing a technically superior opponent, Flamengo could have read the game more appropriately to the match scenario. Felipe recalled a notable moment from Filipe Luís's time as a player: the loss of the state title to Fluminense in 2023. At the time, Tricolor imposed a 4-1 rout with strong pressure on the red-black team's ball out.

FLAMENGO WAS NOT LETHAL AGAINST BAYERN

The criticism extended to the game against Bayern, in which Flamengo conceded four goals, two of which were due to errors in the ball out. The club's former player opens up about the game: “Flamengo made mistakes. I remember when Filipe Luís was still a player, in the Carioca final against Fluminense. They lost 4-1 because they didn't understand the game ,” said Felipe.

MENGÃO HAS PROFITABLE CRITICISMS FOR THE CAST

Despite the criticism, Felipe Melo did not fail to recognize Flamengo 's competitiveness during the semifinal. He mentioned the goal scored and the moments of dominance by Flamengo before the third German goal. In the post-match press conference, Filipe Luís responded indirectly to the criticism. The coach acknowledged the mistakes in the ball release, but explained that the alternatives were neutralized by Bayern.

Filipe highlighted Bayern's intensity in regaining possession as one of the main obstacles faced by the red-and-black team. According to him, even trying to vary the style of play, the opponent did not give them room for alternatives. Despite the mistakes that resulted in goals, the coach reinforced that the idea of maintaining possession and building from the back is part of the team's philosophy. According to him, the choice was conscious, even in the face of risks.

In a match marked by intensity and decisive mistakes, Flamengo ended up being eliminated in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup after losing 4-2 to Bayern Munich. Despite the elimination, the Rio de Janeiro team's attitude was praised by none other than Harry Kane . Bayern's number 9, who scored two goals in the match, highlighted the red-and-black team's bravery, especially in the second half.

“It was difficult. They were dangerous. It was very hot.”

Even with the defeat, Flamengo showed its ability to react. Filipe Luís' team managed to reduce the advantage on two occasions and tried to put pressure on in the final minutes. According to Harry Kane , the fourth goal, which sealed the Germans' qualification, was decisive in avoiding a more tense final stretch. "It was difficult. They were dangerous. It was very hot. We played well, but every time we went forward, they fought back and made the game difficult," said Kane after the match.

DESIGNED AND DESIGNED MATCH

Harry Kane's two goals came from individual errors by Flamengo. The first came after an interception by Arrascaeta while still in the defensive half. The second, in the final minutes, came after Luiz Araújo failed to clear the ball . Kane appeared free in the area to finish with precision.

GERMAN CLUB'S HIGH MOMENT

These moves, in addition to being decisive, exposed a recurring difficulty for Flamengo under pressure: getting the ball out. It was precisely this strategy that Bayern used to neutralize the Brazilian team.

After the game, coach Filipe Luís admitted that the opponent was superior. In a direct and self-critical tone, the coach explained how Bayern managed to neutralize Flamengo's strengths, such as the participation of the full-backs and Gerson's movement. Filipe commented on the game: “If you don't get past the marking, the full-back won't get through. If their defender has quality and strength, your striker can't even run. They make you uncomfortable on the field,” commented Filipe.

Filipe Luís also pointed to Bayern's tactical reading as a key factor in the victory. According to him, the German team neutralized strategic points of the Rubro-Negro, such as the creation on the right side with Wesley and the movement of the midfield.
