Although everything seems to be on track, Zenit president, Alexander Medvedev, denied rumors about the possible transfer of midfielder Claudinho to Flamengo. In recent days, conversations between the clubs had advanced and a purchase price was also stipulated, but the soap opera continues.
In an interview with “Championat”, Medvedev stated: “Claudinho is not going anywhere”. The midfielder is an important player in the Zenit team. Last season, he participated in 42 matches, scored five goals and provided nine assists.
When it comes to titles, Claudinho added another one to his shelf yesterday (13): he was champion of Russia three times, three One-time champion of the Russian Super Cup and won the Russian Cup once. For the Brazilian team, the midfielder was the 2021 Olympic champion.
Flamengo's offer for the player is 18 million euros, according to journalist Venê Casagrande, from SBT Rio, the agreement between Rubro- Negro and Zenit are already closed, although the club president is still reluctant. Furthermore, coach Tite maintains constant contact with the athlete, who smiled when asked about Flamengo after his last match.

Despite not having the same characteristics, both play in the same area of the field. The Brazilian, however, is a little more offensive. The subject was even addressed by Arshavin, director of Zenit, who demonstrated that he was not too worried about possible departures.
“If two people leave, it will be much more difficult than if two leave. Zenit already faced a similar situation last year. Kuzyaev and Malcom left and problems arose. What's different about this pre-season compared to last year is that I think the replacements for these players are already in place in case they leave,” said the former player.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Flamengo was about to close an agreement with Zenit to sign Claudinho, but negotiations did not progress as expected. The Russian club made negotiations difficult, demanding high amounts and prolonging the talks until the end of the transfer window. The new reinforcement arrives with great expectations and can contribute significantly to the team, especially considering his age and potential.
