On the eve of the Copa do Brasil decision, possibly in Flamengo's most important game this season, the subject is still the bite that the vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, gave to the groin of fan Leandro Campos, in a shopping mall in Rio de Janeiro. But the episode is not yet fully clarified because there are conflicts between the versions of the top hat and the fan.

As the episode unfolds, within Flamengo, the matter fell like a bomb and showed that the director has lost a lot of strength at the club. This is because Marcos Braz does not have the support of Flamengo players after a fight with a fan and increased wear and tear. The director gave his version of the case and there was no movement from the athletes in order to show solidarity.

At the club, the people who remain loyal to Braz are director Bruno Spindel, manager Fabinho Soldado , president Rodolfo Landim, as well as Diogo Lemos, member of the Football Council.

See what Braz said and what the fan said:

“I was in the store with the saleswoman, and, deep inside, two or three people started questioning, making demands... They did everything, filming, I didn't open my mouth. They left, I remained there… And then the guy who had the problem arrives. And then the threats begin, this time in a different way, in relation to my daughter being there... And I say 'they've already come here, my daughter is next door, you're threatening me'. And he's talking, talking... I have a 14-year-old daughter, seeing her father being insulted, threatened with death. This started to freak me out. I spoke to him, in his direction, I systematically told him that my daughter was there. I apologize, but the last sentence was 'f*ck your daughter. You saw the ending. I have a problem there, the facts will appear, they were posted quickly, right, it seems like they did the math, 40 seconds… You are journalists, you know more than me, I have been persecuted for some time… I went to the police station as the police asked and I complied clarifications. I made the death threats clear at the police station, the threats against my daughter, I went to the IML and went home to get on with my life again.”

What the fan said

“At no point did I threaten him or his daughter. I saw him biting. His friend even kicked me. If it weren't for the security guards, it might have been even worse. There was no way I could attack him... I turned my back and walked away. When I turned around he was already behind me with his fist clenched. He lost his balance and fell. He pulled me, fell on my groin and bit…. I don't regret anything because I didn't do anything big. It's become a problem in my life and I'm not going to work. I'm a victim. I did not attack him verbally or physically. At no point did I throw any punches or anything. He (Marcos Braz) lied about practically everything. That I threatened him, that he was upset, that I look like a psychopath. He only heard me saying that I asked to leave Flamengo.”

Defender Gil, 38, has officially announced his retirement from professional football. In an interview with TV Record, the former defender confirmed the end of his playing career: " A new phase, I'm retiring from football. It's decided ."

Gil, ex-Corinthians, when declaring retirement: "the only thing missing was playing for Flamengo"

A STRIKING CAREER AT CORINTHIANS

Gil built a remarkable relationship with Corinthians , a club he played for twice. Between 2013 and 2016, he was a key player in Tite's squad, crowning the period with the 2015 Brazilian Championship title . He returned to Corinthians in 2019 and, during his second stint, reached the impressive milestone of 400 appearances for the club.

AN UNFULFILLED DREAM

Despite his solid history at Corinthians, Gil revealed a dream he never fulfilled: playing for Flamengo . " I did everything I wanted, the only thing missing was playing for Flamengo . Not everything is perfect. I'm grateful for the career I've built," he declared.

LAST EXPERIENCE FOR SANTOS

The final chapter of his career was at Santos, where he played in the 2024 Série B. The defender played an important role in the club's promotion to Série A , but lost his place in the squad and terminated his contract in August of the same year. Shortly thereafter, he decided to hang up his boots.

Having also played in Chinese football and enjoyed a solid career in Brazil, Gil ended his career as one of the greatest defenders of the last decade , recognized for his consistency, physical strength, and leadership on the field. In total, the former player appeared in 865 matches, scoring 43 goals and contributing 15 assists.
