A Record< /b> is back broadcasting the Brazilian Championship from 2025, after a 19-year hiatus. The broadcaster signed an agreement to show 38 games per year from clubs belonging to the Liga Forte Futebol (LFF), one of the two groups that represent the elite teams of Brazilian football. The contract will be valid until 2027, bringing the Brasileirão back to the Record screen, which has historically been one of the main broadcasters of the championship.
The signed agreement stipulates that Record will pay just over R$210 million per year for broadcasting rights. This value, however, is lower than initially expected. The reduction occurred because LiveMode, the company responsible for selling the rights, also intends to sell the same game package to YouTube, allowing the competition to be broadcast on a digital platform, expanding the reach and ways of consuming the games.
A NEW CHANGE IN THE TELEVISION SCHEDULE
With the acquisition of broadcasting rights, Record reinforces its presence on the national sports scene, after years of absence from showing the main football championship in the country. The last time the broadcaster broadcast the Brazilian Championship was in 2005. Since then, the market has undergone several transformations, with significant changes in the way sports content is consumed by fans, including the increased importance of internet broadcasts.
The return of < b>Record to the broadcast of the Brasileirão reflects a trend towards diversification in game viewing platforms. Competition for broadcasting rights between open TV stations, closed channels and streaming platforms has intensified in recent years, following changes in media consumption habits. I have a lot of respect for that. The fans have the right to criticize or boo, and work can reverse this. Tite also spoke about the pressure to achieve: “The fan's feeling is legitimate. I feel that too. In football, you win over fans with important titles. If you don't win, the criticism will come. And that’s how you build a story in a club of this size”, added the CRF coach.
With the 1-0 defeat at home, Mengão needs to beat Peñarol by two goals in the return game, which takes place next Thursday (26), at 7pm ( Brasília time), at the Campeón Del Siglo Stadium, in Montevideo, to advance directly to the Libertadores semi-finals. A simple victory takes the decision to penalties.
However, the challenge is great. Mais Querido has not won away from home in the Libertadores since the victorious 2022 campaign.
