Flamengo is preparing to face Bolívar in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores da América. The red and black team will have many absences in the clash in La Paz, but they could have a reinforcement for the duel. This is Uruguayan midfielder Nico De La Cruz, who trained normally with the team and is expected to travel to Bolivia with the group.

The information was published first hand by journalist Venê Casagrande. De La Cruz missed Flamengo in the 4-1 defeat to Botafogo last Sunday (18). According to coach Tite, the Uruguayan did not have the physical conditions to take the field and even apologized to the coach.

“The physical aspects are taken into consideration, but it is the whole package, including the tactic of having to change and structure the team. It is part of the work as a whole, yes, what needs to be improved and recovered. (…) You know what Nico (De la Cruz) said to me: “Professor, I’m sorry, I couldn’t afford it”. You don't have to apologize. If you can't afford it, don't go. And I will repeat all the situations that were experienced before coming to this game, when we won. How many people have already added to the calendar? I understand the situation, the fans, who are as upset as I am", said Tite.

The 27-year-old midfielder has required attention from the coaching staff. Of Flamengo's last five games, De La Cruz has only been on the field on two occasions, against Palmeiras, in the 22nd round of the Brasileirão, and against Bolívar, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores.

For the game against Bolívar, Flamengo already has some confirmed absences: Viña, Cebolinha, Pedro, Gabigol and Allan. The other players will undergo additional evaluations to determine their playing conditions.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

The second leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil against Bahia will only be on September 12th, at Maracanã. However, the Bahian team may have an important absence to face Mais Querido. Thaciano, one of the team's top scorers this season, was injured in the first half of the game against Bragantino, in the Brasileirão.

Even though he has time to recover, as Brazilian football only returns on the 12th of September, the Bahian team is concerned about the striker's situation, which is complicated.

In addition, Bahia also has another absence for the match against Mais Querido. This is because Biel, number 11 and the team's assists leader this season, suffered a ligament injury to his ankle in August.

FLAMENGO'S MISSINGS

Just like Bahia, Flamengo will also be absent for the game at Maracanã. Rubro-Negro will be without Michael, Everton Cebolinha, Matías Viña and possibly Nico De La Cruz, who was injured in the first game in Salvador.

FIFA DATE WILL BE TO RECOVER THE PLAYERS

Now, the Brazilian calendar will have a 10-day break for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. This way, Rubro-Negro will have time to try to recover at least two athletes to the sequence of games for the month of September. Furthermore, Tite will be able to train the team and resolve the problems that arose during the last matches.
