This last Sunday (9), the Flamengo announced two new reinforcements for the women's under-17 team: goalkeeper Kauane Lima and defender Camila Seguins. Both have played for the Brazilian youth team and will now be Mais Querido players.

GETTING TO KNOW THE PLAYERS

Camila is a figure present in Brazil's under-17 squads. The new defender of Mais Querido has left Ferroviária's base to sign a contract with Rubro-Negro and is already integrated with the new companions. At 17, she still has one more year in the under-17s before moving up to the under-20s, but she can play in both categories from this year onwards. She also has a spell at Internacional.

Kauane is just 13 years old and is already part of Rubro-Negro's under-17 squad. Born in January 2011, the athlete is a great promise in Brazilian football and will now defend Sacred Mantle. And in addition to training with the team, she plays and stands out for Dellas Gol in women's futsal.

BRASILEIRÃO FEMININO U-17 WITH 32 CLUBS

The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, stated that the plan is to double the number of teams in the under-17 Brazilian Women's Championship. This is because, last season, the competition had 16 clubs and was played between December 13th and 25th. Each team faced their group mates once and the best two advanced to the semi-finals.

“We designed a project last year to hold a competition with girls up to 17 years old. 32 teams, from all federations, competing at national level in the competition. During the school holidays they can be playing and also the press (can cover it in full)”, said Ednaldo, before announcing dates:

“The Brazilian Championship ends on December 8th. The under-17 women's tournament will start on December 15th and end just when the 2025 calendar begins. This is to have visibility and give so many girls who play football across Brazil the opportunity to be seen.”

This Saturday morning (7), Flamengo faced Nova Iguaçu and won 2-0, in the first game of the quarter-finals of the Carioca U20. The team led by Filipe Luís opened a good lead for the second leg. The goals of the match were scored by Guilherme and Wallace Yan.

In the qualifying phase, Mais Querido, despite sharing the spotlight with the Brasileirão under-20 and preparing for the World Cup, had a good campaign. Rubro-Negro advanced in second place, with 26 points from 11 games. Winning eight matches, drawing two and losing only once.

Mixing the team between the main team and the reserves during the competition, the team also had alternation between coaches. This is because Rafael Bahia led Rubro-Negro in the Carioca under-20 and Filipe Luís led the team in the Brasileirão and World Cup in the category.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT GAME

Now, Mais Querido returns to the field next Saturday (14), in the return match of the quarter-finals of the Carioca under-20. By having a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard, Rubro-Negro can lose by up to a goal difference and will advance to the semi-finals. The game will be at 9:30 am, in Gávea.

Nigerian striker Elija Shola renewed his residence visa, guaranteeing his stay in Brazil for another five years. The renewal of the permission was requested by Flamengo to the Federal Government. Furthermore, the player signed a new contract with the club, which is now valid until the end of 2027.

Although Shola has not yet debuted for Flamengo's professional team, he was listed for the classic against Flamengo. Botafogo, which ended with a 4-1 defeat at the Nilton Santos stadium. The striker was one of the highlights of Flamengo's under-20 team, which won the Libertadores and Intercontinental in the category.

Last month, Flamengo reached an agreement with Remo Stars, Shola's former club , purchasing 70% of the athlete's economic rights for 450 thousand dollars. The 19-year-old Nigerian has been on loan at Flamengo since April 2023. His last residence visa was valid for six months and expired in September 2024.

Shola was first scouted during the Viareggio Cup 2022, traditional grassroots tournament held in the Tuscany region, in Italy. He stood out as one of the main figures of his team, helping them reach the final of the tournament. Following this observation, Flamengo sent a scout to Nigeria to evaluate him again, confirming his signing shortly afterwards.

The Sinergia Rubro-Negra Group (SRN), made up of influential partners from Flamengo, held a meeting last Saturday (7), at the club's headquarters, located in Gávea. The main objective of the meeting was to promote fraternization among the participants, but, inevitably, club politics ended up dominating the discussions throughout the event.

The main topic that emerged during the meeting was the support of the SRN to Rodrigo Dunshee's candidacy for president of Flamengo. Dunshee, who currently holds the position of general and legal vice-president of the club, is a prominent figure in the red-black political scene. The group, made up of members who share an aligned vision regarding the club's management, sees in Dunshee a name prepared to take over Flamengo's leadership, especially considering the upcoming electoral cycle.

FLAMENGO HAS A NEW DIRECTION IN THE ELECTIONS

During the event, members of the SRN highlighted Dunshee's role in the current administration, remembering that he was a fundamental player in several legal achievements of the Flamengo in recent years. The group believes that his experience and proximity to the club's internal processes make him the ideal candidate to succeed current president Rodolfo Landim, whose tenure ends at the end of his term.

Although the initial objective of the meeting was a celebration between the partners, it was inevitable that the conversations turned to Flamengo's political future. The club's presidential elections are approaching, and political groups are already beginning to articulate support and strategies. The SRN, being a strong group within the red-black political structure, has stood out for its organization and capacity to mobilize members.

Those present discussed, among other topics, the possible implications of a possible Dunshee's candidacy. His name has been circulating among members for some time, but now, with the explicit support of the SRN, his candidacy is gaining strength. The members highlighted that Dunshee is a name of continuity, someone who is already part of the current management and deeply knows the challenges and needs of the club. This, in the group's view, represents a positive point, as Dunshee could continue the projects started under the Landim administration.
