Flamengo successfully started their journey in the knockout stage of the Carioca Under-20 Championship by defeating Nova Iguaçu 2-0, in a match held away from home. The winning goals were scored by Guilherme and Wallace Yan, guaranteeing an important advantage for the second leg. The team was managed by Filipe Luís, who is in the transition phase to his coaching career.

FIRST HALF DOMINATION

The game started balanced, with Flamengo studying the opponent's defense and trying to open spaces with the movements of the attackers. At 13 minutes, the first clear scoring chance appeared. In high pressure, Carbone disarmed the opponent and the ball fell to Felipe Lima, who crossed for Felipe Teresa to head, but the opposing goalkeeper saved it.

Gradually, Flamengo's defenders began to participate more in the construction offensive, taking advantage of the good movements of Felipe Teresa and Guilherme. In the 29th minute, Da Mata found Guilherme, who dominated, dribbled past the defender and finished with precision, opening the score for Flamengo. Soon afterwards, in a new play with Felipe Teresa, Guilherme dribbled the opponent again and, with skill, scored Flamengo's second goal.

FLAMENGO AMPLIA IN THE SECOND HALF

In the second half, Nova Iguaçu tried to react, but was hampered by the good performance of goalkeeper Lucas Furtado, who made a crucial save from Lucas Cruz's shot. With the intense heat and exhaustion of the match, Filipe Luís opted to make substitutions, which soon had an effect. Wallace Yan, who entered the match, passed to Rafael Couto, who was brought down in the area, resulting in a penalty. Wallace converted the charge firmly, increasing Flamengo's advantage.

Despite Nova Iguaçu's attempts to reduce the score, Flamengo maintained control of the match and secured a 2-0 score, leaving with a good advantage for the second game.

NEXT CHALLENGE

Flamengo U20 returns to the field in the next Saturday, September 14, at 9:30 am, in Gávea, where the place for the semifinals of the Campeonato Carioca will be decided.

The 2024 season is being a milestone in Flamengo's history, not only due to its results in competitions, but also due to administrative and structural advances. One of the biggest dreams of red and black fans is getting closer to becoming reality: the construction of the club's own stadium. Flamengo made official the purchase of the Gasologista land, in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro, which will house the future home of Mais Querido.

The acquisition of the Gasologista land is considered one of the greatest achievements of the current administration. The purchase makes it possible to fulfill fans' long-standing desire and promises to transform the club in financial and structural terms, enabling greater autonomy for holding matches and events. With this initiative, Flamengo is moving forward in consolidating its own stadium, something that has been discussed for years.

RODOLFO LANDIM AT FLAMENGO IN 2025

In addition to structural advances, Rodolfo Landim's tenure, which ends at the end of 2024, is marked by achievements both on and off the pitch. However, the club's current president should continue to play an important role at Flamengo in the coming years.

According to information from the newspaper O Globo, Rodrigo Dunshee, current general and legal vice-president of Flamengo, and likely candidate for the club's presidency, plans to announce that Rodolfo Landim will occupy the position of CEO in 2025, if he wins the elections. With this, Landim will remain directly involved in the administration of Flamengo for another three years.

SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT

During his management, Rodolfo Landim was responsible for Flamengo's significant victories, including national and international titles. In addition to sporting successes, the management stood out for its modernization initiatives and financial growth of the club, which culminated in the purchase of land for the stadium and administrative reorganization.

This Saturday morning (7), Flamengo faced Nova Iguaçu and won 2-0, in the first game of the quarter-finals of the Carioca U20. The team led by Filipe Luís opened a good lead for the second leg. The goals of the match were scored by Guilherme and Wallace Yan.

In the qualifying phase, Mais Querido, despite sharing the spotlight with the Brasileirão under-20 and preparing for the World Cup, had a good campaign. Rubro-Negro advanced in second place, with 26 points from 11 games. Winning eight matches, drawing two and losing only once.

Mixing the team between the main team and the reserves during the competition, the team also had alternation between coaches. This is because Rafael Bahia led Rubro-Negro in the Carioca under-20 and Filipe Luís led the team in the Brasileirão and World Cup in the category.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT GAME

Now, Mais Querido returns to the field next Saturday (14), in the return match of the quarter-finals of the Carioca under-20. By having a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard, Rubro-Negro can lose by up to a goal difference and will advance to the semi-finals. The game will be at 9:30 am, in Gávea.
