Atlético-MG has maintained its dream of signing a talent created at Flamengo who currently plays in the Premier League: Rodrigo Muniz. In 2023, in addition to Galo, other Brazilian clubs considered the possibility of signing the striker.

However, at that time, it was Atlético who advanced in the negotiations. The Minas Gerais club planned to invest around R$4 million euros (equivalent to R$21.5 million) in the signing, however, they were unsuccessful.

RODRIGO MUNIZ EXPLAINS WHY HE DENIED GOING TO ATLÉTICO-MG

In an interview with ESPN, Rodrigo Muniz explained on his decision not to return to Brazil: “Last year was a difficult year there at Middlesbrough. Then in January I received some calls from Brazil. I was thinking about going back, but I talked a lot with my wife and parents,” he said.

“I really want to be important and score goals out here. If I went back to Brazil, maybe it would be difficult at that moment. Today I'm sure I made the best decision”, concluded the response.

In the interview, Rodrigo also recalled the difficult adaptation he had when arriving in England: “My wife and I arrived here without saying anything about English and today we can talk and participate in meetings. Football is more difficult than in Brazil”, said the player.
