Adílio, who was immortalized in the red-black number 8 shirt, could not resist pancreatic cancer, a condition that worsened in recent months, and passed away at the age of 68. The former midfielder marked his name in the club's history, in its most successful era. No wonder, he is the third player who has worn the mantle the most in history, with 617 matches.
Along with Andrade and Zico in the middle, Adílio was the balance point of the sector who is in the eternal memory of the players. red-black. The number 10 of the season, besides Júnior, are the only ones who have played more for Flamengo than Adílio, in the entire history of the club, to date.
Despite being a second midfield man, Adílio had a habit of stepping into the offensive area a lot and was efficient in front of the goal. For Flamengo, he scored 128 goals with the club's shirt. Some of them were decisive, as in the titles of the 1981 World Cup and the 1983 Brasileirão. The former number 8 also had the habit of serving his teammates and recorded 66 assists for the red and black team.

As the teams entered the field, the fans erected a huge 3D mosaic with the image of Adílio and the number 8 horizontally, representing the infinity symbol. After the national anthem, fans shouted Adílio's name again in the stadium.
