Idol of Flamengo, Gabigol < /a>has not been, not even close, the player who made his name in the history of the Greatest in the World. With his contract nearing the end, the former Shirt 10 has been the third attacking option for Tite, even with Pedro absent from the team for the rest of the season.

The drop in performance, which has been going on since 2023, but accentuated in 2024, has directly impacted Gabriel's market value (VDM). At 28 years old, Gabi is no longer one of the most valuable athletes on the continent. According to Transfermarkt, the striker has already reached the VDM of 26 million euros in 2021. Currently, Gabigol is valued at 8 million euros. Devaluation is close to R$ 110 million at the current price.

Although the phase is terrible and a renewal is unlikely, Gabriel Barbosa has aroused the interest of other teams. Bahia is the main interested in having Flamengo's 99th shirt for 2025. The team, which signed Everton Ribeiro at the beginning of the season, sees the striker as a figure to boost the team's level.

Other three Brazilian clubs have also signaled interest in Gabigol: Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Corinthians. The alviverde team tried to sign a pre-contract with the athlete in 2024, but Gabi did not respond and made president Leila Pereira withdraw the proposal. However, at the end of the contract, changes may occur. The player pleases coach Abel Ferreira.

Gabigol could be absent from Flamengo

Having recently recovered from a muscle injury, Gabigol can return to the Red and Black Medical Department. According to Uol, the attacker felt pain in his right thigh against Vasco, last Sunday (45) and will undergo tests this Tuesday (17). The region is the same one that left the player missing for three weeks, when he was injured against Bolívar, in the round of 16 of the Libertadores.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores. Follow the Red and Black lineup:Rossi, Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Pulgar, De la Cruz, Gerson and Arrascaeta; Plata and Bruno Henrique.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. Check it out:

"The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
