One of Colombia's highlights in the Copa América runner-up campaign and champion with Palmeiras, Richard Ríos is in the spotlight in the transfer market. The athlete can be sold for a value above R$100 million, which contrasts and exposes Fla's errors in evaluation with the player, who received a value 100 times less per half revealed in his base.

The work of Flamengo with Richard Ríos draws attention due to the change in evaluation of the athlete. The club signed the young man in mid-2019 due to his success in his country's futsal team and approved him after two months of adapting to the field. However, despite his prominence and praise from the fans, directors decided to release him on loan to give preference to other names.

Still young, at just 24 years old, the athlete is speculated as a possible major transfer to Europe two years after leaving Flamengo for free. Palmeiras states that they have no interest in negotiating him and, therefore, the only way is to pay a fine of more than 20 million euros (R$ 118.6 million).

At Flamengo, after seven games in the professional world, with only five with the main squad, he left the club for free to sign with Guarani. Rubro-Negro kept 25% of the economic rights and sold 19% for R$1.125 million when he signed with Palmeiras for R$6 million in 2023. That is, 100 times less than what he is worth today.

As there is still a percentage, Fla would also receive it in a possible transfer in this window. In a possible deal worth 20 million euros, the 6% would represent 1.2 million euros (R$7.1 million). In addition, the club has 1 to 1.5% through FIFA's solidarity mechanism, between R$ 1.1 and 1.7 million. But it's worth remembering that Palmeiras guaranteed that the fine is even bigger.

Richard Ríos at Flamengo

Richard debuted at red-black professional already in 2020, in classics against Vasco and Fluminense with an under-20 team in Carioca. He then returned to the team only for the match against Palmeiras in the Brasileirão, a game in which the team suffered absences due to Covid-19 and entered with a formation full of young players from the base. Even with a good performance, he was not used in the main team for the rest of the year.

Flamengo understood that Richard Ríos was behind João Gomes and Hugo Moura in the squad hierarchy. Thus, as the Colombian reached the age of under-20 at the beginning of 2021, the club decided to loan him to Mazatlán, from Mexico.

In the Mexican team, the midfielder suffered a serious injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee law and spent seven months without acting. Upon returning the following year, the athlete was informed that he was not in Paulo Sousa's plans and began to train separately, a situation that did not change with the arrival of Dorival Júnior.

Choice by João Gomes and Hugo Moura

Preferring Richard Ríos for João Gomes and Hugo Moura did not prove to be the best decision, at least not for both of them. The first gave technical and financial returns, winning the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil as a starter and was sold to Wolverhampton for R$ 103.2 million. And, in addition, he can still make a profit via transfer in Europe.

Hugo, however, did not prove to be the player he was expected to be at Flamengo and did not justify being ahead of Richard in the club's evaluation. He participated in the 2019 squad, but only played with Abel Braga and did not play in any game with Jorge Jesus. He was loaned in 2020 and left the club permanently in 2022.

The midfielder generated R$6.6 million when he went to Athletico-PR and then R$5 million via transfer to Vasco . It returned a total of R$11.6 million to Fla's coffers, a value approximately 90% lower than what Richard Ríos is worth.

Fans fear that Flamengo will repeat Shola's mistake

Many red and black fans claim to be seeing the board make the same mistake this season. This is because, highlighted by the red and black under-20s, Nigerian striker Shola is in the final stretch of his contract and is not expected to renew with Flamengo. The board has not made any moves so far, and the uncertainty has attracted interest from other Brazilian clubs, such as Atlético-MG.

The purchase option to keep the player is 500 thousand dollars, equivalent to R$2 .7 million at the current price.

Preta Gil, 50 years old, went to the National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida, located in the interior of São Paulo, on Sunday, the 22nd. As she is devoted to the saint, she explained that she visited the basilica to give thanks for the health of the entire his family and also because of his cancer treatment.

“Walk with faith, I will because faith doesn't usually do it! Thank Our Lady of Aparecida for all her support, thank you for the treatment, the support network I have from family and friends, thank you for everyone who prays for me! Thank you,” the singer wrote in an Instagram post.

At the end of August, Preta told her followers that she needed to resume cancer treatment after eight months of remission. The cancer had spread to four parts of his body. She was discharged in September and celebrated the moment with her family.

Bowel cancer

Preta Gil was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the beginning of last year. Among the symptoms that made her suspect a health problem were intense constipation and flat stools, with mucus and blood.

At the time, she underwent radiotherapy sessions and surgical treatment. The singer also had to undergo a total abdominal hysterectomy, a procedure that involves removing the uterus.

After primary treatment, she entered a phase called “no evidence of the disease”, according to doctors interviewed by the Estadão. In other words, the cancer was no longer detectable by physical, imaging, tomography and/or blood tests.

In August, however, the artist reported that the cancer had returned, being detected in two lymph nodes, in the peritoneum – membrane in the abdominal cavity that surrounds organs such as the stomach and intestine – and in the ureter.

The diagnosis came while Preta was undergoing periodic exams in the remission stage of the disease at Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo. Recently, in an interview with Fantástico, she said that she had to amputate her rectum last year, during treatment.
