On Saturday night (1), Flamengo beat Fortaleza by 2-0, at Maracanã, for the 13th round of the Brasileirão. The goals of the red-black team were scored by Gabi and Arrascaeta. After the match, Sampaoli spoke about the arrival of defensive midfielder Allan and the possible signing of Claudinho.
"Allan is a player that I like a lot. I worked with him at Atlético-MG. Negotiations are advanced. And I don't know anything about Claudinho, but for me he's a high-level player.", said the coach.
Allan arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night (1), to sign with Rubro-negro. The athlete stated that he has already spoken with Sampaoli and also revealed that he will wear shirt number 21 at Mengão.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."

Flamengo only drew 1-1 with São Paulo this Sunday afternoon at Morumbi and ended up as runner-up in the Copa do Brasil on aggregate (they had lost 1-0 in the first game at Maracanã). Jorge Sampaoli left the field without participating in the medal ceremony and lamented the loss of the title at the press conference:
"I think the game was in Flamengo's favor. In the four halves, three went to Flamengo. In this World Cup, Flamengo was better than all its rivals. But that's football. São Paulo scored a goal at the end of the first half, where they hadn't tried anything. In the second half the team went looking, a game that was very punished by the referee, very perforated. For me, the team was better than São Paulo and couldn't win", said the coach.
It's worth remembering that Jorge Sampaoli will not be in charge of coaching for 2024. However, it is not known about the coach's continuity after the defeat in the Copa do Brasil. In this sense, the next few hours will be crucial to know if the coach stays until the end of the Brasileirão or if he falls now.
As Flamengo coach, Sampaoli now needs to think about the Brazilian championship. This is because next Saturday, he will face Bahia, at Maracanã, at 4pm. The red-black team is in seventh place in the table, with 40 points, 11 less than the leader, Botafogo.
